I may have posted before, but I think if the twins didn't exist... I'd get a Volvo V60 Polestar Edition... :p

I likely would have just dropped a few thousand dollars into my STi and kept driving her. Unfortunately it was at the point where I needed to do the timing belt, replace the turbo and put a new clutch in so I decided to pick up a BRZ instead.

Actually, my commute is along one of the few relatively uncongested freeways. 35miles one way takes about 40 minutes. So it is almost enjoyable (going home trip, anyway).

On a bad day (like the infrequent rainy day) it might take almost an hour...

oh right on, the post quoted would put it about 70ish miles a trip which would seem to take forever, hearing the 5 miles an hour typical congestion. up to an hour at worst seems fairly typical.

Hah, "almost an hour". You've got it pretty good! Here in NC it rains quite frequently, and people still crash all over the place. My 18 mile commute is usually 45-60 minutes if it's raining (14 of those miles 65 mph I-40).

Well it would've been the Scat Pack Challenger with the 6mt. I had a 2016 on order before I ran into someones trailer hitch with my srt4... Insurance said I wasn't at fault because he ran into someone in front of him. Something about 485hp of modern muscle

I would have bought another used e36 325i, had I been able to find one in good condition w/ a manual transmission, NOT the xi model, AND at a price that wouldn't jeopardize my financial future. Sadly, after a year, I gave up the search and bought the FR-S. Sometimes, as I sit inside ruminating, I wish I had just kept my old 325i and continued the search, or bought the bullet and just paid longer green than I was willing to to get the right e36, but every time I get in and drive the FR-S I smile and those thoughts go away.

My ONE complaint about the car is probably a positive for most people. I hate the sound, and yes, I've tried plugging up the "sound generator" tube. I've always enjoyed "stealth" performance cars; my e36 looked like a slightly sporty unassuming little family sedan, but man, you could push it and it handled GREAT, and it didn't scream and putter like a 3-year-old who didn't want to go to bed. It just quietly and calmly did whatever you asked it do, with GREAT enthusiasm.

TRUE capabilities and performance need not be shouted to the world, but are more admirable when humbly offered, in my book. Wish the FR-S was quieter (and yes, I'm running all stock). Other than that, I love it.

Barry

The sound tube amplifies engine noise inside, but doesn't do anything for the outside of the vehicle, which is honestly pretty quiet
