Only reason i haven't is cause i'm moving down south .. and i know i won't be dealing with the Snow mess down there like i would up here. So i didn't want to invest in snow tires ... I'm fine so far.. *Knocks on wood.. only a couple more months ... and i don't really drive a whole lot .. even for work .. (10min) drive .. and i prob drive at most .. a couple times a week ... a total of like 10 miles .... so its like .. why bother when the car is parked more often then driven during the snow.

So do you curl up in the fetal position at home until that happens? Some of us have stuff to do and don't want to risk ours or others safety in the process because we are simply ignorant.

You're also perpetuating the myth that "snow" tires are only for snow. They are actually referred to as winter tires and for good reason. Do some reasearch and please feel free to post something useful and intelligent at that point.

There are a few types of tires for winter driving. Here is what I've gathered for winter selection:

1) Studded snow tires- good for deep snow and icy situations
2) non-studded snow tires- good for deep snow and ok on ice
3) performance winter tires- good for cold temps and light snow

Problem with studded snows is traction on dry pavement, most highly lack in that department. The same can be said for just plain snows depending on the design.

Performance winter tires grip the road more, still not the best on dry pavement.

Choose the best for your own situation as true snow tires don't make sense for everyone and performance winters don't cut it for some.

Just thought I'd share a funny picture that's all....jeez

Personally I drive a different car during the winter, not that the BRZ can't handle it with snow tires, it just simply doesn't have sufficient ground clearance.

For those of us who don't have that option, be safe and drive slow. Snow tires are a must in winter with our cars.

Sorry man it's a huge pet peeve of mine. I have seen way too many preventable accidents due to ignorance. If you live in a snowy environment, please be prepared for it. Just like people want the best performance in good weather, why cheap out when road conditions aren't favorable?

This is so true. How many times I see guys buying expensive wheels and slapping on some cheap ass tires. Or not getting the proper tire for the situation.

Hey DING DONGS tires are the most important performance part of your car.

I'm getting studded snow tires (probably Blizzaks if they are still around) in about 10,000 years. I'm in Florida and we're expecting glaciers about that time.
