Anyone going to be at PIR this weekend for the SCCA Time Trial? I am going to go check it out(not running) and chat with some friends who will be there.

Next weekend is lapping on Friday and Sunday (not required to do both) with the IRDC @ Pacific Raceways. These HPDE days are part of the IRDC Competition race weekend and the racers are looking forward to meeting you all - there's a lot of interest in the 86 flatform in the racing community.

Friday is 4-5 sessions

Sunday is 3 sessions.

Edit: Didn't realize they are also doing a driver school for novices to the track or for drivers that are looking to get their racing license. Probably the best value in the PNW for driver instruction/coaching.

Went out to RMP yesterday and ran my fastest lap there yet, video below but turn off the sound as my camera doesn't support external mics and it has horrible wind noise. Also at like 14ish minutes into my run my OBD channels for some reason died so there is no RPM or throttle position. There was another FRS out there that was quicker than me but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to meet them.

The race school is VERY intriguing. I don't know if I can make the one upcoming and unfortunately it looks like there are no other schools for the rest of the year . At least one of my tires is possibly questionable at this point. The counter clockwise orientation and sweeping left handers at RMP have put a beating on my passenger side tire shoulders. Especially considering I was only running adequate negative camber two of the three events that are on them.

I had another great Turn 2 event at RMP on Friday. Set a new PB of 2:01.09 on a hot track with extremely cycled-out SX2s! I only have the datalog from the lap, but here are a few laps in the ~2:02-2:03 range to give some idea of that the new Jackson Racing kit is like at the ridge. The track got quite greasy so I couldn't beat my time after the second session.

I'm still super wary in turns 1 and 4 since I've had a few heart-in-throat moments in the wet there recently. I'm still building up the courage to carry more speed into 1 and to get back on the power earlier out of 4. I'm only taking about 85-90 into 1, where I think 90-95 is doable even on these tires. Given that I'm going 128mph into the braking zone, everything happens faster than it did NA. Go figure.

According to @CSG Mike, the RE71Rs I have sitting in the shed should yield a 3 to 3.5 second faster lap (~1:58?). I guess we'll find out if that's true in a few weeks!

For reference, that's a 987 Cayman S in front of me. He was probably 1 to 1.5 seconds faster around a lap on stickier rubber. Nice to be able to hang with a Porsche.

I'll be at RMP again on Aug 3rd, and at Area 27 on Aug 23rd.

Area27.... I'm jealous.

How are you liking the power output?

Should be fun. The organizers we typically run RMP at somehow secured a one-off event at Area 27 for non members. Not the cheapest track day out there as you can imagine..but how could I resist?!

The power output is just plain awesome. I drove my brother's '16 Mustang GT back to back with my car. Mine felt faster, even if it ultimately isn't (huge difference in gearing as well). It just pulls hard! Putting your foot down in 2nd and rowing through 4th is just hilariously fun.

New personal best is always fun. Nice. Given you are 128 on the front straight when are you shifting Into 6th? For me when I need 6th it's end of the straight so I just hold top of 5th into T1.

I'm at the very top of 5th. My AiM shows 128.8mph at 7848 rpm by the time I hit the brakes.

Anyone coming to RMP on Sat Aug 3rd?

I watched ur video and saw you are top of 5th with red shift light on. Same situation I am in. I dont have aim so my speedo shows 120. I know since we've changed the wheels and tires the speedo's accuracy is not correct. How accurate is the AiM?

One way to get use to going through turn one at 95+ requires forgetting about laps times, and spend a session working on turn one. Exit 16 then accelerate up to 95-100. Don’t go faster. It’s going to feel so SLOW. Don’t break at all for turn one; just apex through it at 95+. Then brake hard for two and proceed normally.

Another way is to ride with an instructor that is use to going through turn one at 100+. GT3, GT4, spec Miata, etc. all take that turn 100+. Do that for a session. Your car will feel so slow at 90, you’ll Naturally be faster there. HTH

HOOKED ON DRIVING is at ORP all this weekend. We have plenty of room available. With low car counts and 6-7 sessions, it’s a great value.

This is exactly what the guys at Dundon told me when I took a ride in their GT3 RS last Friday. I can't wait to try it. Total lightbulb moment for me when he suggested dedicating a session to just trying that.

The Solo 2 should be extremely accurate. I also see 128 on my dash. Getting a good exit out of the final corner makes all the difference!

I'll be getting my own boosty juice soon though. Just not in the BRZ--that's going up for sale soon. Getting a 19 Golf R since I'm not planning to track for a little while anyways
