I know there are a good number of folks running boost(turbo and SC) so within a reasonable power level(~300hp it seems) the stock engine is alright. Tune is obviously a MAJOR factor, so let's assume the Edelbrock CARB tune or a utility-tweaked tune from a reputable tuner like Delicious. Would most of you say after maybe 20-30 people have logged 5-10k miles over 6 months-1 year we would have a good idea of the failure rate of these systems(all parts included)?

I would also hope those same 20-30 people have some track days on the systems to truly validate track durability as well.
Edelbrock offers a pretty impressive warranty if you have it installed by an authorized dealer... that alone speaks volumes.

Now I'm hearing this may not be the answer? I did sit in @shiumai's super clean BRZ (thanks again bud!) but only as passenger. Was thoroughly impressed with the pulls, lack of whine and the overall cleanness the kit brings with it. Ugh... I hate doubts like these :/ but I've made mistakes costing me more than ~$5000 before so i think I'm still on board.
Well, I'm sure you're already aware of my thoughts on the OFT.

Would you like to see what a proper E85 tune feels like?

Haha I would've taken you up on that a few months ago but all eyes are on the Edelbrock now. Gonna miss those late night E85 fill ups with the two gas cans

For runing e85 on the edelbrock don't forget that you will have to change your injectors and pump !

I'm getting a delicious tune for mine cause, like i already said, i'm in france and we have 98ron octane gas, and i'm living at 10 miles from germany where we have 100 octane gas ^^ and AUTOBAHN with no speed limit =P

For what i see on delicious website there is more hp and torque difference that you said. 22 hp more and 12 ft/lbs more on 91 octane gas. I'm expecting mooooore with 98ron ^^

Like you i asked myself a long time if i will run carb or delicious tune, for approximatly the same price you will have more output from your engine with the delicious one.

I use Shell V power Nitro ~99-100RON ~ 93 AKI

Expect about 3% more power compared to 95RON ~ 91 AKI

I've got the cossy SC but should be similar % difference if the tune is good.

Where did you get that from!?! V-Power is definitely not 89-90 MON IIRC it's usually 86... It's just a touch off USA 93. Good European 98 RON is pretty much equivalent as I found most to be 87 MON.

potateo potarta.... fixed it for you

Did you ever dig out the datasheet for V power? Chap working in the shop was trying to tell me it RON101 when I asked him for specifications.

It's old (2009) but I doubt much has changed apart from a rebrand:

Initially I was inclined to agree with this statement. But then I read that the warranty is only offered on vehicles with less than 36k miles. Not that Edelbrock is any different than most other companies, and I certainly am not attempting to call their reputation in to question, but this step(if true) greatly limits their warranty exposure and in my mind does NOT add volumes to the reliability/durability question.

You yourself have said you wanted to wait until there was more "seat time" as it were before you would chime in on reliability, so I am just asking what would you consider to be enough? And others opinions as well.

Again, I am not trying to call in to question Edelbrock or their practices, I REALLY like this kit and am SERIOUSLY fighting pulling out the checkbook every day. I imagine once I hit 25k miles I will pull the trigger to maximize my warranty coverage from the dealer then from Edelbrock.

Well, the warranty that runs with the cars miles is on the drivetrain. It's basically just covers the same as the Subaru warranty since you won't be able to get warranty fixes from Subaru on a heavily modified engine like that.

The warranty on the supercharger itself is from when you buy it, and doesn't require a professional installation (I believe), but I think you do have to run the provided tune.

You can't really expect Edelbrock to give you an extended warranty on your engine over the manufacturer after boost.

It certainly makes a difference to the individual that has 1k miles vs. 30k miles on their car when they install the kit. obviously, to the higher mileage customers, it's going to mean less to them personally, but for me, the fact that they offer that warranty when no other manufacturer does, speaks volumes about the confidence they have in their product. it would not make sense for them to warranty the engine/drivetrain on a car that has 70k miles. using the factory warranty period makes total sense.

Soooo you want them to warranty your engine for 3yr36k no matter the mileage? Lmao. So 100k mile car should get a 36k mile warranty when adding a power adder? Some people are just never happy and unrealistic. I could never own a parts company just for situations like this.

Your hesitation is definitely understandable, I too was in the same boat but the fact that they do have a power train warranty PERIOD speaks volumes to me about the reliability (for normal street driving at least), show me another FI option that has one and I'll eat my words.
