I just test-drove an ap1 s2k yesterday and would say if the car wasn't my DD/only car, I'd opt for the s2k over my 86. Most notable improvements were the shifter along with the 9k howl. There is obviously the factor of being a novelty as I've DD'd/autoX/track my 86 these past 7 months but tried my best to compare my initial test drive impressions and believe the s2k was much more exciting and engaging car.

Just looking at how high the hood line is makes that blatantly obvious. The designers did the best they could, but the sad reality is that its becoming increasingly difficult to design attractive cars in the face of retarded regulation.
The s2000 is a good looking car but I think it still looks like an old honda

I agree. Except... I truthfully, despite what everyone else thinks, like the new Civic design... Not as a sports car or anything near it, but as a family compact car, the sedan is great.

??? Fairly radically long nose/short deck, severely rakish profile, gorgeously sculpted fenders pulled taut over the front wheels, it doesn't look like *any* other Honda IMO. I love the FR-S/BRZ, but frankly it looks rather bumpy/lumpy/dumpy in comparison to the S2k.

I used to drive a '99 Accord and my neighbor has a 01 S2K. When I sold the Accord and got the twins, every time I see my neighbors car, the doors remind me of the Accord. We could go on for days and days haha. Personal preference is gonna be the determining factor for this discussion. I could never deny that the S2000 is a good-looking car,it's very verygood looking. I just think that nothing in this price range beats the FR-S. Excluding an '05 Elise.

Looks is a matter of preference. To be honest, the looks is the major gripe holding me back from getting a BRZ/FR-S.

I keep saying, all it takes to "modernize" the s2000 is turning the almond shaped headlights (so late 90's early 2000's) to a modern sweeping/angular headlight.

I would love to see a GT300/500 style fender flare a-la-BRZ as well...

It looks great from SOME angles... but I also think the S2k looks like ass from SOME angles. The S2k looks spectacular when you take shots that accentuate the front end. The BRZ looks great when you accentuate the fenders.

I do have to say, the BRZ looks meaner with a drop when you're behind one on the freeway...

1999 Accord (the "sporty" 2-door version!):

S2000:

If you say these look alike, I have to say that you *must* be shrooming...

S2000 is a great car and the interior is snug but without needing to undigifyingly contort the body to get in like you would with an Elise/Exige. I pretty much had to crawl out of an exige because of how low the car was and how wide the door sills are.

I love how the transmission tunnel in the S2000 acts as an armrest and how well thought out the driver interface is, screw the passenger they shouldn't have anything to touch, unless it was a chick with their hand in my lap. The stupidest thing about the s2000 is where the trunk release is, inside the damn storage compartment beside your shoulder. WTF were they thinking?

So you can park the car with the top down, lock the storage compartment so nobody can get into the trunk while you're away?

That's what I do. I park the CR with out the HT & put a cockpit cover on.
