Got an FR-S to replace our MINI JCW. We also test drove a WRX, might have ended up with that instead. We also liked the Veloster, until we drove it.

I think it may have been the 370z for me.
Really depends on what you're comparing. A new M3 is way more expensive, so in terms of something for a similar price... That's hard, but probably an older Cayman or boxster for me. Bought my 86 because of the car vs value. Great car for a reasonable price!

Would love an M3... Just not at 3x the price

I was so close in getting an S2000 before I decided to buy a new car instead.
Anyone own both an S2000 and 86? When I started looking at the 86 platform I was also interested in the S2000. After reading and watching vids on the internet this is my new, second found love.
Looking to possibly save and eventually purchase an 06+ AP2 to run NA in the spring/summer months.

If it didn't exist I'd either buy another STI (GD series) or just build another :'(

Probably a 2016 Yaris. Yeah, I know that's an odd alternate choice:

But, what happened is, I bought the FR-S two weeks ago because my 2011 Yaris was totaled four weeks ago. I loved that little car and was sad to see it die. Yeah, it was slow and handled like crap but I accepted it for what it was and as such I thought it was a lot of fun. Because of its small exterior, I could go into spaces and places no regular sized car could and got 36MPG no matter how or where I drove it. Inside, it was actually very roomy because the wheels were located at the very ends of the car.

Since its introduction, I had been planning to buy the FR-S in 2016 (when I hopefully retire) but since I needed a new car now, I decided to go ahead and buy the FR-S a year early instead of buying an interim commuter car.

It kind of hurts to see all those miles (1600 miles in two weeks!) just rolling, rolling up doing dull commuting duty, though.

But damn, it's so much fun!

I was seriously looking at a V6 Camaro or an E46 M3 when I bought the BRZ so I'd probably go that route.
