Heatwrapped HKS Intake, Stainless Steel Mesh on Speed Holes
Did some late night modding tonight.
Took my front bumper off to refinish the holes nicely for the HKS CAI. Mounted a stainless steel mesh grille behind it. Also heat wrapped the HKS Intake Duct with some Reflect-A-Gold. Hopefully it will further reduce intake temperatures. I've also plugged up the 3 holes that are on top of the HKS intake duct. I realize no one else will see it(apart from the pics here) but it gives me warm fuzzies thinking that I've done a job properly

It looks like they also wrapped the header to help decrease overall engine temps. I'm assuming that the header is another factor in intake temps increasing?! Just saying since it seems like your goal is to have the lowest temps possible. Also, going back to the TRD intake. Couldn't you have purchased the Zeta Perf intake tube and just trimmed the curved to be a straight tube and replace the bumpy orange one from the TRD? |

I should have had my headers heat treated in hindsight(ceramic coated though - but the stainless rainbow type finish looks sooo good in the engine bay) but it would have left me without a car for a week. Header wrap is good, but not so once water gets onto it. Promotes rust like no body's business, and all those fibres flake off and itch like hell.

I now want to see your car with TOM'S taillights. And I don't mean to be critical, but it doesn't look like the white fenders match up with the rest of the car. FWIW, after my bumper was replaced, they didn't match it up too well, either. Makes me SO MAD!

It's very difficult to paint match 3 layer pearl anyway, the INGs+ material is FRP, the bodywork material is aluminium alloy, no way it will be a perfect match. Even the pre-painted TRD bodykit parts are off collour. @s2d4: there's one other one that's been modified more than that. But he doesn't have the title of "Perth's Hottest 86"

Had some goodies installed at Evolution-R in Bentley this afternoon.
For anyone that wants to know about spark plug change-out. It is possible to change the spark plugs without lifting the car on a jack or a hoist or even lifting up the engine the required 100mm. Took about one hour tops(with letting the engine cool down) to do it. While we let the engine cool down we installed the CUSCO grounding kit, and also the TODA big throttle body which is nicely polished too. If you can afford it(just a smidge under $1k AUD), its a worthwhile mod. I mean if your up to that stage in N/A modding where you've run out of easy to install 'bolt on' mods to buy. I think this will probably be the 2nd last item I buy for the car(bar Radium oil/air separator) until there's mass produced and proven aftermarket CAMS for this FA20. Also, had the OKADA Projects coil packs installed. A notable difference is that the plastic packaging that houses them is exactly the same. The part that has the SUBARU and the part number embossed onto the casing is 'shaved' off and the OKADA sticker applied, which can be seen here: Also added is a red-ping coloured aluminium heatsink which looks like it does SFA, it should really be bigger to make any difference.. that's if it makes any difference at all in a warm engine bay at any rate. Had a test run/thrash of the car. No P0351 Primary Coil Pack "A" CEL error codes which is pretty good and the only reason I changed out the coil packs. The cumulative mods of the goodies that were installed yesterday feels worth the $2.4k AUD to supply/freight and install them. Definitely feels like its an extra 15kw on the Butt Dyno. Anyway, some happy snaps as usual. CUSCO Earth Harness Kit installed STOCK ZN6 Throttle Body STOCK Spark Plugs(after 34,000+ km)
