I decided to have a shop handle the install. Besides not having vacation, I thought the peace of mind of knowing it's being done by professionals will be a good thing. I don't get to learn that way but hopefully I can do some learning a bit at a time, and not because I f***** something up. Lol. They can't start until Monday so I'm guessing I should get it back on Wednesday or Thursday.

Not sure when the rest of the items will ship. Oh well. Back to waiting.

Looks like you need to start a build thread to track your updates too

Lol, guys... I'm just trying to help keep this thread clean. Most people come to this thread to read PTuning turbo kit information; check out media, see the life-span of owners cars and read reviews. Reporting shipping updates is material for your personal build threads and not really ideal for this thread. I'm sure you guys are excited for your turbo kit(s) and trust me, I am excited for you guys too haha. I love seeing more people throw down a PTuning turbo build and I pretty much stalk all of the owners' build threads.

Anyone with the PTuning exhaust get it coated? I'm talking about overpipe, front pipe, and exhaust housing. Think it's a good idea, or completely unnecessary?

Besides the header, unnecessary.

I did as far back as the over-pipe. Further back is unnecessary.

I'm in Arizona. We are just hitting the first of about 5 months of 105+ degree temperatures. My car is definitely a DD but I am also hoping to attend a track day sooner rather than later. Considering the heat, I'm thinking I should get an oil cooler right away. But what oil cooler? I've been told that the PTuning Lamina cooler may not suffice in the hot summers here on the track.

Thanks buddy32. However, I've read through this thread a few times (and am reading again as you suggested) but I'm not really seeing an excellent solution.

@sw20kosh and @mkivsoopra look to be using the same 25 row setrab which seems to be doing a good job in 75 degree ambient, but is still untested in 100+ degrees. I suspect it will be sufficient at those temps, but there is still the issue of it overcooling for street use.

"This oil cooler is overkill for anything but turbocharged hot summer track days. It literally has to be disconnected or blocked for regular daily driving." - sw20kosh

"It is way overkill for street though. I actually have it disconnected now, otherwise I'll be seeing 150F while cruising on the freeway. This is WITH a thermostatic sandwich plate." - mkivsoopra

I'd like something that will suit all my needs:
- daily use during normal driving
- daily use during spirited driving
- occasional canyon runs
- occasional track days in "normal" weather
- occasional track days in omgwtfhot weather (100-115F)

I'm aware though that it's sometimes tough to find a perfect solution in this hobby.

I think the PTuning oil cooler may be the best answer, as it seems to be able to handle the first four of those just fine, and will still allow a little fun even during the last one. Or maybe I'll just skip track days in AZ summers and head out to San Diego and hang out on the beach.

Thanks,
Kevin
