Although it means travelling further south to start, I would suggest starting from the South end and stopping at the Junction. (A to B on my map.) Then either turn around and go back to SJ or take Del Puerto Cyn Rd out to Patterson. Mines Rd between Junction and Livermore was very gravelly the last time I went.
I don't mind staring down south and working my way back up. What time and where should we meet up on Sunday?

I agree, Mines Rd between Junction and Livermore is super gravelly so I don't recommend that stretch of road. I have rock chips on my rims to remind me of it.

How long does this drive take on average? I can't figure out how to calculate it on googlemaps.

Id say at least 2 hours. More if we stop somewhere for a break or eat. The Junction Bar & Grill serves awesome burgers. And has this amazing homemade bourbon sauce.

I could probably make this if we go early enough.

If you guys are interested in eating at Junction, it doesn't open for lunch until 11AM. So we would probably roll out from San Jose at about 10AM or so. There may be considerable cyclist traffic going up the mountain so we would take it easy. If you are OK with skipping Junction, we could go much earlier, say 7 or 8AM and have the road more to ourselves. Those who are interested, could loop back down into civilization and grab lunch/coffee afterwards somewhere else. Depending on your preferences, I can suggest a starting place, probably at a nearby Starbucks.

OK so here is the proposed starting point:

Sunday 7:00-7:30AM. Roll out at 8:00AM.
Capitol Square Mall - Starbucks Coffee
2707 McKee Rd, San Jose, CA ‎
Meet in Starbucks parking lot just past the Chevron station

We will head up Mt. Hamilton and stop at the Observatory if it's open. Then down the other side to the Junction. From there we will decide whether to go back the way we came, or continue on to Livermore.

the route on Google Maps:
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?m...I.kLa2whhQnYvM

bring:
sufficient fuel for 100 mile drive (there is a gas station near the start)
walkie talkie radios if you have them
drinks and/or money for drinks/food
camera or gopro (optional)
sunscreen

I'm going to have to miss this one. I stayed up too late doing homework and I would have to leave right now to make it. Have fun everyone.

another great drive with you guys today... hope you enjoyed the trip out to the "middle of nowhere". 8 cars joined us for the run, and the roads were fairly clear so we definitely got to have some fun along the way.

Here are 2 stills I grabbed off the GoPro.

Great drive indeed. Weather was perfect, traffic was minimal, and great owners to spend Sunday morning with. Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1427688961.750953.jpg
