OK, I got a response from Toyota.

They are referencing the Warranty & Maintenance Guide (physical) and saying the intervals are 7,500 miles or 7.5 months.

The website is therefore misleading, giving people the impression that intervals are only mileage-based.

I called in the morning and my service manager said at the 3-4k miles I put on in a year I am still good with doing the oil change once every year.
