Car is priced right but dealerships cause the car to fail....

Has anyone seen a car promised by the factory to be X price but because the dealerships charge more then MSRP that it really causes the car to fail in that local area? Seems like dealerships...AKA stealerships could be the main factor in the failure of a new car realease.

If your dealership [obviously Subaru] decides to throw a "Market Adjustment Fee" on the car, then for goodness sake, go to a dealership that isn't!

If literally everyone boycotts MAF's, then zero will sell, and they'll be forced to drop the BS to clear out the "unwanted" inventory.

I've seen it far too many times; NSX, Supra Anniversary Ed, EVO, G35 when it first came out, etc.

Everyone is entitled to their own purchase but those putting deposits down wanting to be the 1st one are honestly the ones helping the dealerships add that dealer markup.

As Ryephile mentioned, just go to a different dealership, even if that requires you to drive 200+ miles to get to.

Dealers charge exorbitant fees on high demand cars because they know people will pay it. Back in the day, the first year S2000's were commonly sold with $10k-$15k in dealer markups. I've even heard of $20k markups on Evo VIII's back in 2003. Neither of those models failed.

Why don't you guys just skip all the dealer malarky and go buy one from Scion?

You guys know you did post this in the Scion section right?

agreed. i dont understand why people will bitch about dealers charging 2K over MSRP yet they are not welling to drive 200 + miles to get the right deal. if you to the trade off, its still worth the time and effort.

VOB Nissan in Rockville MD was charging a $75,000 markup on their first three GT-Rs, which doubled the price of the car. Total was over $160k, and none of them sold until they dropped the bullshit.

You both realize that there is nothing about Scion Pure Pricing that would prevent a dealer from charging over MSRP right? A Scion Dealer could charge MSRP + $2K and not violate a single Scion policy.

I don't think that is correct. Once Scion announces the MSRP, that is it and that will be the price. All of the Scion the dealerships must apply that same policy.

Not really. Each Scion dealer have their own lists, they can set the price to whatever they want as long as every car of the same model are sold at the same price (in one specific dealer). So they can mark up the first year model and go back to MSRP on the second year model without violating the Pure Pricing policy.

The dealer is free to set the price at whatever level they choose. They must advertise that price, and everyone that comes to the dealer must pay the same price.

You will not pay over MSRP for the Scion FR-S unless you are getting on off the lot that has some crap added to it. Most people are going to be ordering them so you will pay MSRP.
