I think that's part of my problem, sort of. My regular "real world" depth perception is fine, but I have never noticed the missing depth of field in a "2d" movie. When they add the 3d depth of field it looks artificial and forced to me. Basically, it looks like 2d with multiple layers, not depth of field.

Please relate to me in detail the rational and smart actions that you personally took (not what you would take but what you actually did) the last time you had to deal with a ghost that killed you I your dreams. How would you deal with that machete wielding being after you put 6 rounds into him and he didn't even slow down?
I think asking what I did, not what would I do is silly as we contemplate what we would do in hypothetical situations all the time. That said, dreams are imagination, therefore you must imagine a way to destroy your would be killer. If you can't do that, you're just dead. As for when you shoot someone and they don't fall down... Try a head/leg shot (in case of armor). If that didn't work, run and revaluate. Assuming your opponent is impervious to pain/being slowed by damage your only option is to trap or dismember your opponent

I guess I need to increase my beer intake with 3d movies. That should fix the relaxing, and may even help white noise out the blurriness.

The point I was attempting to make was that you can not say what you did because you were never in that situation and never will be.

Again the real world application on a non real world situation. Doesn't matter where you shot they are not affected they are supernatural and it is a MOVIE universe.

If we apply your plan to a real life situation you once again you express a situational awareness and actions based on video game reality and actions. You would be dead well before you got to pop off half those shots since in a stress situation even the best shooters can't hit shit. You have any clue how hard a targeted shot would be with a guy baring down on you?

Well as I understand it Jason walks everywhere so a little kiting and you'll have all the time you need to shoot. If the killer ran it would be a short movie just like if the killer was mortal and the victims weren't dumb as hell. Movie universe or not, the decision making is just awful. We all know it, that's why horror movies are made fun of. I've never seen an anime with decisions like that being made or I wouldn't watch it. Typically in anime these situations don't exist because someone always has a super power or something useful. They don't just scream for 5 minutes when they fall down

Don't worry guns will be illegal soon and then defending yourself will be near impossible.

And as far as the "anything goes" part: many of these movies appear to be set in modern times and only the antagonist is supernatural in any way. Nothing to do with decision making here. If the victims found a laser gun or something then that creates a setting where other odd things can happen BUT I still expect them to not scream for 5 minutes when they fall. It's just like the henchman in Austin Powers that got run over by the steam roller. But that was funny because it was ridiculous. In a "serious" movie... That's not good

Yeah, I'm a tough customer that way. If I'm ever wearing 3D glasses it's because I have four grandkids in tow. Rogue One kept it low key but I'm still looking forward to a second look in the cheap seats.
