458 is the only Ferrari I would want. I'm a die hard Lamborghini guy, but some things transcend dogma and the 458 is a nexus of awesome that can't be denied.

The GT-R, meh. I don't want to drive a playstation game.

Thanks, humdizzle. Very interesting post. I admire both cars from a distance, and only know about them from people like you who take the time to write about them.
thanks! honestly the FRS is closer in feel to the 458 than the GTR. Both lightweight, low center of gravity, rwd, NA.

Which creates a problem. When I had the frs and gtr they kind of filled in each others flaws. Now I have two small go karts in the garage! Not sure what to replace the FRS with yet, maybe an e90 m3 6spd, but that would be overkill for 20k miles a year i think.

The more I get into cars the more I like the idea of a 3 car garage setup - DD, weekend sports car (911 GTS, Alfa 4C Spyder, etc.) and a canyon/track weapon. That being said, not sure where my current Z4MC stands among those three. Trying to do it all currently
I would like to mod it. Problem is I dont trust anyone to do it. And the ferrari dealer is stupid expensive. I'm too scared to touch it myself lol. Maybe some springs and wheels in the future but we'll see.

i drive it often, but will try and keep it between 2-3000 miles per year. letting these cars sit and collect dust usually just causes more problems.

I try to convince myself I dont need a 3 car setup all the time.. just a DD and weekend. But part of me wants a nice luxury DD (M3,RS5,AMG), and then another DD for the thunderstorms/parking in the city/snow.

Agreed, plus modifications not installed at a reputable place could hurt resale value. Best bet is to find a good independent shop, easy here in CA but may be harder near you.

A 2 car setup is a good goal to achieve, but 3 allows you visit the extremes of vehicle types more readily. 458, FRS, 4wd lifted monster.

Learn the joy of cheap cars. It's liberating. Freedom to not care.

But I can't help feeling some envy.
