Anyone running a conservative E85 tune with a Vortech kit on the standard pulley?
Maybe 30% mix of E85 with some conservative timing increases... I could imagine if you were logging monitoring fuel trims were acceptable. Ultimately I'd like to go E85 with upgrading fuel pump, injectors and an inline ECA but I'm looking to do it in stages. It appears the net cost of adding these components will be about $2k. Anyone have any recommendations or suggestions it would be much appreciated. Currently running full bolt-ons that is tracked for the most part at autox and a DE about every other month. |

Hi guys, getting ready to install my kit. I purchased it used from a reputable vendor but the air filter cover doesn't seem to stay on very securely. Has anyone changed out those turn nob deals for something more secure? Surprised I cant find anything in the threads.

I remember tweaking the nut portion so that the fasteners fit more secure, previous to that sometimes they would vibrate out of position

I put some extra foam around the perimeter of the door. Closes firmly now.
This stuff: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005202U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Amazon - Low Density Foam[/ame] I use it to take care of rattles throughout the car as well. |

So from what it sounds is on stock internals and 91 octane with the 3.25in pulley you're going to get about 260-270 WHP? What is the limits of the stock internals? What other SC supporting mods should be done to get the most out of it?

I'd add aftermarket headers as well. As for your second queation, I think we are still learning what power levels the stock internals are good for.

Hey fellas, I have read your warnings and prepped for my Vortech kit. I have upgraded the radiator, clamped all the hoses, installed catch cans, installed the check valve, and am ready for install this weekend. A couple questions from my reading:
1) some have said they no longer use the AC to reduce stress on the belt. Is this overkill? I live in the PNW and the air is always wet, I am always using the defroster with the AC. Thoughts? 2) some have mentioned this belt also will struggle under regular downshifting. I am a daily driver, no track. Should I start learning how to de-celerate with no downshifting and just invest in extra brake pads? Thoughts? |
