Painted OEM Mirror

Well it was a total b*tch to disassemble but I finally did it: got my mirrors painted.

Don't do this unless you really really want to.

Probably taking the actual different parts of the mirror apart (not just off the car).

Right you are!

First off, if you don't pivot the mirrors back you will break the plastic piece.
Second, you gotta get the harness connector apart to slide the wire through the seal. Use a very fine flat screw driver.
Third, you gotta gently pop the mirror glass off its four clips to disassemble the mirror housing.

All these steps are described in the service manual, but very prone to you breaking stuff. So be careful.

Thanks. I feel it helps to get rid of that sub 30k car feel.
