Rent an 86 through Toyota Rent a Car

I'm in the market for a BRZ or FR-S. I've test driven a couple but I really wish I could drive one for a few days to really get a better feel for it.

I noticed that Toyota has a section of their website called Toyota Rent a Car with categories like "Try Before you Buy" and "Business/Leisure Rentals".

Has anyone heard of or rented a car (specifically a Toyota 86) through this service?

I had a dealer that let me take home a Camaro for a week to see if I liked it, why not ask around?

That's not a bad idea.

My plan is to buy a used BRZ/FR-S, so I'd rather just do a straight-up rental without the sales pressure.

looks like you can assuming the dealer is participating but I doubt they would rent out a brand new model

Some dealers have it and some do not. More don't than do. I have tried several when traveling on business and none had the service. Call the dealers nearby.

This reminds me of Toyota salesman who let me test drive a 1981 Toyota SR5 liftback all by myself. I drove it around for 45 mins. This salesman was a old man who told me tell your grandpa the car costs $12500.00!!!

No, but IMHO, if you drive one around the block, you should have a pretty good idea of what it is. It won't get any bigger or more powerful further on down the road .....

It just made me remember how I drove the new car by myself for 45 mins without the old salesman. Didn't have to rent the car to try it out.

Renting a Toyota in Japan

I highly recommend renting an 86 is you can.

I rented one at Mt. Haruna in Japan (Gunma area) and it was amazing. Also rented one to drive a full day around Mt. Fuji.

I wish Toyota rented those here in Canada!

I was lucky to have someone with a BRZ for rent in my area on Turo. Worth a look!
