Upon further consideration, wouldn't warm/hot oil running through the rad transfer heat to coolant? It seems it would not be as effective as having a stand-alone oil cooler?

Ro Ja: but coolant temps in main rad is not exactly bottleneck for these cars. It even has some extra headroom, if you tune in ECU fans to work more. Oil temps are the issue to fix.

A standalone external oil cooler is excellent for very hard driving and recommended for those who push the car extremely hard under track and racing conditions. There are some who are capable of properly utilizing this unit for other applications as well. For most people, this Dual Radiator/Oil Cooler works great. |

These supercharger kits and turbo setups have all been taken into account to provide the maximum amount of applications possible. There will be that one setup that it might not fit, however, in that instance, we already provided that key dimension that you need to check before proceeding. |

While doing the install, the lines keep trying to flatten out and kink. Can I stop that if i used a pair of retaining ring/snap ring pliers to undo the clamp then cut the hose down a cm or two?
Thanks! The hoses seem to actually be the most difficult part of the install rather than making anything fit. The radiator almost fell right into place in comparison to removing any kinks or flattened areas in the hoses with the correct AN fitting clock positions. |

While installing the kit, I noticed the kink as well,
this is what I did and hopefully it'll hold up. Also, I can't install the radiator cap, is that a common issue? Oh, and one last thing, the aFe Takeda CAI cannot be installed after the radiator is in... Last edited by DevArenaCN; 05-17-2016 at 12:27 AM. |

Can you switch the hoses? That may solve the kinking if the shorter hose reaches

Great cooling solution!
Hey all, given the space considerations with the Edelbrock, I held off on an oil cooler as most of the available products either required additional fabrication or some level of compromise.
I ultimately chose to go with the Jackson Racing Dual Radiator/Oil cooler for the following net positives:
Here's a pic displaying the difference in thickness, and the space efficiency of the Dual Radiator/Oil Cooler: Picture displaying multi-louvered fins OEM Crash beam clearance with Edlebrock LTR, AC Condensor, and JR Radiator. The JR Dual Radiator/Oil Cooler fits well with the edelbrock airbox. So well it doesn't appear to be an aftermarket product if you didn't know what to look for: The lines were a bit tricky, as it looked like they wanted to kink. But after playing with the angle, we found a soft bend that facilitated the smooth flow of oil: There's plenty of space for the fan shroud and edlebrock airbox: Once we started the engine up, the lines filled right up without any signs of pressure changes or kinks in the lines: The only part I didn't figure out was the JR cap. It didn't fit so I just kept the OEM cap on. I plan on recording track temps during 86 Cup Buttonwillow on June 4th. The install would have been too much for me alone being a newb with instructions that had zero pop-up pictures for newbs who can't install good. But with CSG Daves guidance the install was very straightforward and makes logical sense. Big thanks to CSG Dave for the install and a CSG Mike for putting up with my Askholeness during my hunt for an oil cooling solution http://counterspacegarage.com/blog/p...-installation/ |
