So how do you deal with E85 in the tank when the car sits ? just add some additive to it ? I am planning this for my race car and my car does sit most of the time of course... so what's the best thing to do ? fill it up with regular 93 octane at the end of the track day ? pain in the butt.

Heaps of guys run E85 full time with no flex kit if your NA, just straight E85 tune. You can get away with a fair bit of variance in your E% NA using ECU standard fueling compensations.

FI different story unless you monitoring and controlling your fuel E%. ie have a guaranteed source of constant E% fuel. you will need a flex kit.

If your fuel is in a sealed container you will be fine, modern fuel tank systems are sealed.

If you letting it sit for months then maybe add some ethanol fuel treatment.
but a few weeks is fine.

i run e85 full time no flex kit

Is anyone running a fuel lubricant to prolong the life of the components in the tank? Like redlines alcohol fuel lube or premixing like rotaries ?

Is the OEM heat range spark plug fine for e85? Would it be better to go one step colder?

the problem is fuel separation. As ethanol and gasoline sit they stratify over time. I don't think a month or 2 would be a problem but longer storage requires fuel treatment or when you go to re-start the car after sitting it'll get a huge gulp of ehtanol or even water (http://fuelschool.blogspot.com/2009/...l-blended.html)

I've heard that it's somewhat necessary to change your oil to an e85 compatible oil. Is this true? Because I'll be tuning my car to run e85 this coming week. My car only has 1,100 miles on it

E85 will leech and dilute into the oil quicker. You'll need to double the frequency of oil changes. steve99's post has all the information you'll need.

IIRC only one track car had an issue with the fuel filter and it was never proven to be caused by running E85. Again, hundreds if not thousands of BRZs/STIs/ WRXs run E85 with no changes to the fuel system (save for FI upgrades).
