Bringing back this topic. One question for the new wing is if it'll be wet or dry carbon. The JDM spec tS car has a dry carbon wing and is much more expensive. It is used usually on performance cars that are enhanced for the track. You can check the differences here:

That's what I was thinking. Otherwise, the cost would be too high ...

At least +2k USD just for the rear wing.

I hate these arguments (on both sides).
The frs/86/brz does need more power as standard, and people crash fiat pandas that barely make 100hp, so your point is, well, pointless.
End of the day it's what we each want from the car - so why is wanting more power always a bad thing from some people on this forum?

Fact is the brz has a brilliant chassis that can easily handle a 50-100hp boost in power.

I.T.O this thread - any STi without any more power would be a waste of time I.m.o... (why even call it an STi then) and assuming it'll fetch a much bigger price tag than a stock 1, most people would probably get a stock one and then mod their own and get an FI kit etc.

My point was nothing to do with wanting more power it was simply that if it had more power stock then people would still say they wanted even more.
There is a world of difference between saying the car needs more power over sombody wanting more power. I have zero issue with people wanting more power my argument is simply when people state it can not function on the streets with what it has.

There's truth in this statement. People on the Subaru forums have been bitching and moaning for years that we don't get any cool STIs here in the US like the S206, S207 etc. and how we need at least a 20hp bump. Now we have the RA coming, which shares a lot in common with the S207 and has at least a 10hp bump... but now that's not enough because the car needs at least 350. Probably because the Focus RS has 350? But why are people so obsessed with a single number?

The current 305hp STI has published 0-60 and 1/4 miles lower than the RS, and that's where that number has any significance. So why does it specifically need 50 more? It doesn't. Should the day come when Subaru gives a 350hp STI though, the same kids that can barely afford their base WRX without their parent cosigning will be the first to speak up and say how it needs 400.

The fact is that some people are just never satisfied and never will be.

You know everyone I know with sti need atleast 500 right? Oh and they complain about how subaru engine sucks with all different kind issues.

The only person I know that doesn't complain about the power of his car drives a E39M5 with exhaust and tune (That m5 makes 400hp already STOCK, 0-60 in 4.8s).....but hey he say the prefect hp for a car is 500 too.

PS: seems most ppl don't know that STi is just subaru's in house tuning department now.

They should just stick to their roots and drive American muscle cars so not to mess with their ancestry.

meh, let the Focus RS owners keep their high output engines. Apparently hundreds of them are blowing headgaskets already and most of them look to be stock. I doubt Ford will do right for the majority of owners in the end.

The STi's engine may be ancient, but at least it's proven itself over the years

it really hasn't. Subaru has changed the tune so much to meet emissions the sti ej is a ticking time bomb. Far too many totally stock cars have ringland failures.

On the 1 hand, sure. (Esp the bitching).
And I get it that street cars generally have plenty of power for what we do 99.9999% of the time.

But if everyone was satisfied there would never be progress so new mods, or fun with flexfuel and water-meth......
