Another hack - FT86II diffuser and fender chop

Another take with the fender vent removed. Diffuser lowered.

Only fender vent removed:

No, they're not.

If you take out all the CF, rear defuser, vents (that include by the rear taillights), & you got yourself a final production.

Agreed. For a car priced the way this one will, I highly doubt there would be any functional venting. And definitely no carbon fiber parts.

Chop above looks great!

are we for sure that those vents are non-functional? Not saying that i think they are, but I just don't want to dull down performance even by a small margin just for the sake of looks.

In some cars, a vented fender arch would do wonders. Especially ones that suffer those high pressure areas in those wells.

the MR2 turbo has two functional side vents. driver side (in the US) is for the intake, feeding it nice cold air, and the passenger side gives airflow to the intercooler. it was a little bit more expensive than the FT86 is planned to be, but i don't see any reason why they couldn't put a vent there and have it be functional.

eh, i think it looks good, and the car is definitely not a rip off of any infiniti. i think it's only that particular angle where it looks pretty close to it. either way, i like it. :happy0180:

well guys the more holes you put in something the lighter it gets, so the vents were for weight reduction obviously

umm...when it comes to panels, typically the orifice area are for aerodynamic purposes. whether to draw in air or relieve high pressure or divert/channel to other parts of the vehicle. This is especially true for most newer vehicles with many manufacturers using wind tunnel testing in various sports cars.

So I im not to sure that a vent in a fender is there for the main purpose to "shave weight". Now if holes were made into the shell metal, that would make sense.
