Drift-Office : BRZ vs FRS Dyno Day ~ Mini Meet 6/30/12

Date : 30th June 2012
Time : 1PM - Whenever?

Location : Drift-Office, LLC | 1535 Auburn Way North, Auburn, WA 98002

So I was thinking it would be a good opportunity for us here in the NW to have a get together and what better way is there than to have a meet-n-greet event over a dyno session? Besides, there will be a free flow of NOS Energy drinks on site.
It would also be a good time for a few of us to baseline our vehicles and see if there's any appreciable differences between the FR-Ss and the BRZs performance wise.

Dyno sessions are FREE for the 3 other participants :

1) BRZ 6AT ~ OPEN!!!

2) BRZ 6MT ~ OPEN!!! / WastaCamel (Tentative)
3) FRS 6AT ~ CNC Joel Staab (Confirmed)
4) FRS 6MT ~ DO virtual_bob (Confirmed)

The BRZ 6MT / 6AT spots are still open so if you're interested, LMK ASAP and I'll pen you in!

All vehicles attending above need to be 100% stock, engine and wheel wise - this way we get an apples to apples comparison. 6MT vehicles will go WOT in 5th gear while 6ATs will do so in 4th. (That's the 1:1 gear) Naturally, we'll do a run or two with the 4th and 3rd gears respectively too!

Naturally, there's going to be at least 2 non-stock BRZs and 1 FRS on stat...

BRZ AT : mechaghost (Confirmed)

BRZ MT : Tainen (Confirmed)
FRS MT : detainu (Confirmed)

There's a certain PRINT MEDIA guy on site coming too to cover what could be THE FIRST BRZ / FRS Dyno Day here in the US...
That said, who's down to come by and check this out?

Regards,

I'm a noob when it comes to dyno requirements. I could fill in the BRZ 6MT but what is the maxium revs needed for a proper dyno read? I am hearing that I shouldn't redline the BRZ until after 1,000 miles driven.

What the hell, go for it. Just be sure to capture the data before your engine grenades so you can post it here! Inquiring minds want to know!

Well, we are doing WOT (Wide Open Throttle) pulls, so it will be straight to rev limit. Typical dyno run... I know there are 2 trains of thought, one where you baby it and the other where you go all out - and consider this : if this brand new car can't go WOT without hurting itself, maybe we should not even be considering it's purchase.

Besides, that's the other reason why I made it on the 16th, so people would have had some time to 'break' there motor in (pun half-intended!)

Cheers!

I see. Very tempting. I just re-checked my calendar and looks like I almost double booked myself. Sorry but can't fill the 6MT spot.
