Lol yes semi metallic pads beating on stock rotors tends to do that. Especially now that it's cold.

I ran some Carbotechs and the only reason they killed my rotors is I went to bare metal (pads were so loud, I couldnt hear that they were dying). Thats when I bought DBA rotors then realized later they were illegal for this class

Not saying it can't happen but typically warped rotors don't cause a noise. They will, however, cause pedal pulsation under braking. Pad backing plates often have metal tabs that stick out to contact the rotor when the pads are almost up, and I would think that is more likely. You could also have a rock stuck between the pad and the rotor which will cause a squeal. Then again, it could just be the nature of those pads.

You may have already looked into that but if not just some thoughts.

Kido - do you get a lot of dusting or squeals from the DS2500? I haven't run them on a car in many years and don't remember.

Very minor squeals. They make some noise when the pad is below 70 degrees (first few stops on a cool day) or so but not much. Dust is low side of medium. More than OEM but nowhere near my Carbotechs. It's very livable unless you like your car to look like a show car at all times.

Pads are squealing cause the grease between those and metal shims got baked. Remove, spray some brake cleaner, lubricate and it should be good.
It is *very* hard to warp a rotor.

That's kind of what I remember too - good to know. I've had mixed noise results with HP+'s on other cars but they are always super dusty.

Hawk just isn't worth saving the $30 over a good set of pads IMO. Their pads are too abrasive and dusty for that level of performance. Too much compromise to save $30.

Stocks pads are on and squealing is gone. There is a noticeable lip on the stock rotors now from wear. I'll see if I can get subaru to give me my warranty set

I had a thin lip around the edge from where a small portion of rotor had wore away. TO be expected. The lip goes as far out as the rotor did at full thickness.

That I understand. Last year I ran the r4s up front and stock rear pads. I loved the feel but I think I'm going to upgrade the rears.

Measure them first, might still be within spec.

I thought rears would be useless. Did nearly a year with just DS up front, stock out back.

Put on a set of DS2500s when the rears were nearly shot. WOW at the difference. I never expected to notice but I really do!
