Poll: what kind of car are you coming out of for the FR-S/BRZ?
Hey guys and gals,
I've noticed that a staggering amount of members on this forum are either replacing or complementing their Toyotas and Subarus with the FR-S/BRZ. As an MR2 owner, I can't help but chuckle at the amount of MR2/Celica/Supra/Corolla owners on here, holding onto their precious sports cars for so long, finally ready to get something new. There's also quite a few WRX/STi owners, and plenty of people coming from S2000's, MX-5's, Z cars, etc. So what are you coming out of? (Sorry Evo guys, I should've added Mitsu to the poll) And to you MR2 owners, did you feel like you needed to keep your MR2 after you got an FR-S/BRZ or was it kind of pointless? This is the question that I keep asking myself as save my paychecks for a BRZ down payment.

I'm coming from an evo viii that had 347whp and 346wtq
It didn't exactly happen how I wanted it to since my evo was totaled thanks to some lady running a red light and going straight into me but due to the timing i was able to go put my name on the list for the frs and once everything with the insurance settled my car arrived about a week later. |

2006 Evo IX MR. Sold in the spring while value was still really high (or what I thought was). Sold for $21.5K. Car was super clean and all stock but did have over 90K miles on it. Bikes kept me entertained all summer but now it is getting cold, the FR-S was supposed to keep me entertained. But only had car 4 days and in shop exactly 4 weeks today
Edit: photo, this car was never in the shop except for scheduled maintenance and it saw redline every day that it was driven, or damn near. Great DD, except for fuel range. Last edited by TurnOne; 09-25-2012 at 11:05 PM. Reason: photo |

Comming from a 91 Skyline GT-R, and a 2008 Toyota Yaris lol. I know it's quite the odd couple. GTR sold, and a week before the FRS arrived, the yaris was rear-ended and totaled.... Actually bought a new Yaris last week, as it was a great functional vehicle.

My '05 SRT-4 Neon was totaled last October, I couldn't finance a replacement car because I was in the process of buying a short sale. So I bought a '94 Integra with cash.
This ended up giving me about 4 months to decide on a car. When the FR-S pricing was announced I knew it was going to be my next car.

I teared a little not seeing Mitsubishi on that list. But at least you apologized.
I'm going to keep my AWD Eclipse GSX for winter/snow use but that's what I'm daily driving for now. This car is kind of similar to my Eclipse in shape and style and I like Subaru and their boxer engines and I like Toyota's older sports cars so that's why it got my attention. I admit, coming from the mindset of having superior all wheel drive traction and powerful turbo engines, I was skeptical about rear wheel drive and a NA 2.0L 4 cylinder. But after all the feedback and my test drives, I am certain that this will be my next car.

I stepped out of this.
One day you just realize that it's just a measuring contest with most people. It came to me when I went to a gocart track with a bunch of buddies with GTR,ninja bikes and etc. I enjoyed passing them in a 7hp gocart around corners more than passing them on the straights. Nah just kidding. The vette just got too irritating to own and play as the corvette tax was on about everything and scraping every speed bump and driveway hurt so much. I have enjoyed everyday with the BRZ and not really missed the 505 hp either which says exactly what I thought before I sold my vette. |

Got rid of my 92 MR2 to make room in the garage for the FR-S. I loved that car, but it was starting to turn into a money pit.
Funny story… I was cleaning out the garage the Saturday before my FR-S was suppose to arrive… had the 4Runner parked in the driveway and stuff scattered everywhere sorting through junk… the MR2 was still parked in the garage with the hood up charging the battery… a pickup truck pulling a trailer drives by the house very slowly then loops around in the cul-de-sac… stops in front of the drive and yells… Hey you what to sell that car? Thirty minutes later I was driving it onto the trailer and had cash in had. Guy said he had a small used car lot in the fringe of town and usually found his best deals for cars by driving through neighborhoods. The MR2 was like a fine glove that fit perfectly… hope I’m saying that about the FR-S in the future… |
