One thing to keep in mind about magnetic mounts is that they stop wireless charging and NFC from working. A deal breaker for me since I use Android Pay.

See my above post--if you have wireless charging, you dont need a plate unless you use a thicker case, and in which case if you keep the plate low on the phone (almost near the bottom), it won't interfere. I've used it successfully on both.

This. It's a little pricey but I think the best option out here. I paired it with a QBA17 and am really liking it so far with my HTC M8 with an Urban Armor Gear case on it. It could accommodate something wider too. The sides slide in to snug some rubber pieces against your phone to hold it and there's quick release switch which makes them snap back to their maximum width. This way you're not mashing your case/buttons into a predetermined setting.

My review I posted on their site (*****). BTW this was for a 2014 FRS, so you might have to deal with some of the extra installation crap if yours isn't:

When I got the instructions, I was a little scared - you might have to cut off this tab, this little ridge, take the panel off around the head unit. But my experience was much more like what is shown in the installation video- pop off the side panel, slip the product on, put the panel back and done. 5 minutes. No alterations, no sticky gunk on my new baby, nothing blocking the air vents or CD slots and no suction cup that's gonna fall off. A little pricey, but the perfect solution.

PRO TIP: Saved myself $12+ in shipping by Facebook messaging their page and asking for discounts or free shipping. Got the free shipping.

3D Print w/ Scoche Pro Mount

Bought a Scoche Pro Mount and decided it would not stick well on the suede of the 2017 Toyota 86 dash. Did some tedious measurements and 3D printed a "sleeve" which would wrap around the dash and provide a nice adhesion surface.

3D modeled test design (1st attempt)

Full design with pro mount attached (3rd attempt)

Back side of dash

Final installation, decided to go with a blue finish (4th attempt)

Relatively pain free FRS-specific magnetic mount... and the BeatSonic QBF13 fits well over JPM Coachworks upholstered panels...

I did just that last night:

I have mine suctioned to the quarter glass on my door. Clears everything perfect as I open the door as well. Not sure why everyone insists on putting their mounts on the passenger side or in the center.

If I didn't have tint film on it, I would have gone with a suction cup to the little window too.

I used to have mine there until my phone got too big/mount doesn't stick out far enough for it to fit.
It's the perfect spot.

Yes, it gets creased for sure.
