They are assuming I think that there was oil starvation. As he mentions there was no oil cooler and oil got quite hot so I think its more of a case of oil temperature than starvation.

It's known oil pressure is lost when oil temperature climbs and lack of pressure at high RPM operation is the same as starving. This is why oil coolers are so important if you are going to track these cars.

Yes totally agree and understand this. What I meant with starvation is that I think they believe the starvation is caused by the oil system design and not the temperature. From the video they make it sound as if regardless of having an oil cooler you will still see starvation on the system on stock / non sticky tires, which I do not believe is a real posibility.

I find it interesting that they only swapped out the rods and are still using the OEM pistons.

I wonder what is required to do that?
