I think it could work either way. Backwards probably wouldn't mess with aero and add protection. Facing towards the front of the car would let more air hit the cooler and might add some additional air to the other heat exchangers, but it would still flow out how the normal incoming air would. I guess there could be an instance where you would get air hitting from coming in normally AND flowing upwards, and I'm not sure on how that would affect aero if it even would.
On the corvette this just replaced a somewhat shoddy air dam / hole with a scoop. I didn't have it personally, but my intake took air directly from that area and this was something I had considered. |

You could just make an aluminum scoop with the exit in the back, that might also increase the pressure differential and get you more flow through the oil cooler.
Edit: just noticed the post above mine, we're saying the same thing. I don't see how the corvette piece would have helped anything, you definitely don't want the scoop facing forward in this application. |

Glad to see some fellow members going with the Edelbrock kit. Being CARB exempt, I will most likely go this route when my finances are straightened out come the new year.
So for the California owners, Do any of you live or drive near Santa Barbara / Goleta area? Would love to see this kit first hand. I venture down to L.A. every once in a blue moon as well. |

I agree that if something like that were used to face it rearwards. |

What supporting mods were required to achieve this? Injectors or fuel pump?

AVO makes a ducted oil cooler that mounts off to the side but has it's own air duct.

Thought some of you might be interested in our latest development on the Edelbrock eForce supercharger. We have started some pulley test and tunes and so far the 3.00in (15 PSI) pulley works great on 91 octane. Though you will be at the limit on stock injectors. More to come...
