^ I mostly agree, but you're ignoring the big things like unique body work, and partial vehicle assembly by hand. Still, if anyone I knew paid out $60k+ for an S209 (or any Subaru not called 22B) I'd ask them to get their head examined.

And very true with Porsche. My car's ECU is set to restrict torque. i.e. even if I modded it with boltons there would be little to no torque gain. Rather, I can just have the ECU reflashed to 911 engine specs (since it's a 911 engine) and just like that I have another 30 hp and a torque gain as well.

not just the 22b. There were a string of STI's that were all £50,000 when they came out. Of course today that would be £94500. So $60k is sort of a deal for the same type of thing even if it is not that good.

HP coming from factory with warranty is a big deal. IMO. I'd rather have it come stock than to mod. Modding is not for everyone, especially if you plan to race for a particular class and aftermarket mods are limited.

I wouldn't get a s209 because the price opens up a lot of other choices. But I don't think getting a s209 is crazy. It's a cheap car to somebody out there.

IMO, body work can easily be ignored. Most of these cars don't benefit from big wings and canards, maybe if you're on the track trying to shave seconds off laps, but you're also driving at track speeds where that kind of mod is actually used.

Absolutely amazing this silliness is still believed.

My Mk3 would run circles around most cars of that era and it was even more of a GT car than the mk4.

I was just explaining where much of the cost of the S209 came from. And in this case, the body work is very functional. Not sure why you posted a photo of a minivan.

Ok. I'm addressing your saying it only goes straight. Which is wrong, plain and simple, and has been a false myth going on two decades now.

Interesting to see the SupraMKV forum perspective. A few of them have (or have had) both an 86 and a Supra.

Is that based on its stock form or modded form?
Cuz anyone can throw money and mods at the car to make it handle better.

AFAIK Supra had always been more GT car than sports car but was never scared of corners like a muslcecar.

Yes. Supra was a GT car.

The car can be made to handle well, but it does take a fair bit of suspension tuning. The car is more popular for the power plant and the chassis being able to handle large power. That’s why everybody turns them into drag queens.

Every Supra is pretty much the same. Front lip. OEM Turbo or TRD wing. GIGANTIC single turbo with a bunch of chrome/polished bits in the engine bay. 1000+ hp. Choose your wheels and color.

MKIVs are the missionary position of tuner cars.

Typical. Twin guys pick the twin, Supra guys pick the Supra.

Interesting thing many pointed the Corolla thing. Some people buy a sports car to be seen others just for the pure enjoyment, some both probably.

I would buy a used 981 and an 86 before I bought one Supra. But I am biased and was never a Big BMW guy. The Supra does sound like fun though. But the steering of the twins really just shines.

I don’t need to be seen, maybe heard as I fly by at 7000 rpm.
