That is recommended as per manual, There must have been a tiny bit of oil that didn't come out during the drain process.

EDIT: got underneath this morning and corrected the levels, sitting perfectly now
Roughening the stick helps but the way that stupid stick bends as it angles into the oil makes it damn near impossible to tell where the level really is, It is different on each side. Not to mention the oil may expand/contract depending on temperature and then there's the level of the surface the car is on. Then again the stick may be splashing into the oil as the resistance to the o-ring on the handle is suddenly overcome. Sometimes oil sticking inside the tube from pulling the stick out gets on the stick. You can get your knickers in a knot over all this. The best you can do either measure what drains & put that volume of fresh back (allowing for filter) of use half a litre less of fresh then top up later.

If you use regular clear coat it'll keep happening, if you use something like Meguair's you have to reapply every year. You could also use Aerospace 303 every time you wash the car (which you should be using for your interior anyway)..

i have a bottle of that meguiars stuff, is it easy to overapply it? does it harm paint if you get any overspray on your paint?

I masked like crazy so I don't know what it'll do to paint but the label says remove with rubbing alcohol in case you get some on.

Another option is to use Xpel Paint Protection Film -that has UV inhibitors. I have PPF on my front bumper and hood since 2013 and it's still clear.

I'd the PPF a spray or a skin?

I doubt you caused it. Mine have had nothing specific on them and are just starting to show signs of fogging over along the top surfaces (2013 purchased 05/2012). It is garage kept but spends most of its days in a parking lot at work.

Took the car to its first Track session at calibogie.
Learned a lot about my driving and the car. It needs pads, fluid and tires ASAP!

You have to keep in mind the sun beating on the plastic turns it yellow and when you're driving it's like getting sandblasted with all the stuff in the air, sand, bugs, rocks ant etc your clear headlights turn opaque.

Paint protectio0n film is the way to go BUT with the contours of the headlights it's a PITA to apply UNLESS you take out your headlights and have a friend hit it with a hair dryer/heat gun as you stretch it.

Finally got my car inspected. Also got an oil change done while it was there, since I only got the car in June and I don't know when it was last changed.
