Former. This is why I generally don't drive. And it's better than having to drive to get anywhere at all. On a good day, average speed to get to the highway is 16mph, making it 15 minutes. Traffic lights and jerks that don't want to work well with others make that 12mph often, and rush hour? I hate having board meetings that make me face that traffic

Starting with a less than full battery and driving downhill could charge... The usual is temperature and not requiring heat or cooling, which isn't clear to the car till it's sure it's not in a climate controlled space. That can cause range to be "added".

The Model 3 Performance package is amazing by any metric you measure it. I've test-driven one and it feels game changing. It won't be long before electric cars are a norm and affordable. Personally, I'm excited for electric sports cars to make the scene. Instant torque without a screaming engine is something to experience. Some like me like the drama of a gas engine but I'd gladly give that up for performance. If you have a chance, go test drive one. My BRZ will likely be my last gas vehicle.

Test driving the model 3 performance was definitely an eye opener for me.

The plan is when I finish nursing school to get the wife into a Model Y when it comes out. I’d consider that Honda Electric concept for a daily for myself. I would have a Cayman or a 86 for the track or canyons.

Frankly, I'm worn out on Tesla hype. Geez, there has been an entire series of news articles in the last few days about the upcoming key fob! Really?

So it is now news that Tesla is including something in the car that should have been included in the car all along and that is somehow fantastic news?

That key fob is going to push the valuation of TSLA to more than Ford and GM combined!

Awww don’t be butt hurt they got you to click on the article. It wasn’t Tesla that is hyping this. They wouldn’t make useless ads if there wasn’t so many fanboys and haters that routinely clicked on these “stories”.

But I should add, I’m no fanboy of Tesla. If Audi, VW, Honda or someone else can make a good EV then I’d buy it. Most EV’s don’t look like regular cars. That is one of the big advantages Tesla has over the look of the Toyota Prius, Toyota Mirage, BMW i3, Chevy Bolt, etc. Their designs look unique, yet familiar. It is obviously an EV, but it doesn’t screen eco hippie. I get that a certain person bought EV’s and hybrids (initially), but the design seemed to be an obstacle for mass adoption, intentiion or not.

After watching that YouTube video above, I definitely see Tesla as having a technology edge on the market. They definitely need to refine their manufacturing process like the video also mentions. Musk has said that the Model Y will be much better from a production standpoint.

Actually, except for the one I used above as an example, I haven't clicked on any of them, they just show up constantly in my news feeds. I scan the headline and swipe left to delete. But, in the end, it goes to my point earlier, Tesla is the Apple of the car industry, and not in a good way.

I'm not sure I'd agree on the design (I happen to think everything Tesla has designed except maybe the original roadster is either boring or screams HEY LOOK AT ME I'M QUIRKY AND DIFFERENT IN A DOVE SOAP BAR WAY) but your point on the other manufacturers are on point.

That is one of the things I liked about the Honda fuel cell cars. They were just Accords with a different drive train.

Their success is both good and bad, as they draw scrutiny and praise constantly. I’m sure you aren’t the only one burnt out by the endless attention they garner, but that attention isn’t going away anytime soon. Maybe in ten or fifteen years it’ll die down when there are more EVs on the roads from multiple competitors, and the playing field is mature and more equal.

That was their goal with the Model S, to make something that looks very familiar like a GT Aston Martin meets a Chrysler Sebring. It was to look sporty but plain. They didn’t want it to screem EV with blue lettering or boxy or earthy design language. The black in the front was made to resemble a grill opening which is useless or unnecessary on an EV. That front bumper is the only thing that makes it look like an EV, and with the Model 3 and X, it was more intentional.
