Woot Woot! Got the WRB BRZ (Delivered at Dealer today)

It was delivered at the dealer today. Drove an hour to get the paperwork done and its now mine! I cant drive it yet since they have to do there dealer work on the car. I got it for $300 off MSRP. Had them install the auto dim mirrors w/ compas for only $169 total (zero installation fee), $26 wheel locks (installed).

I think I got myself a great deal. They also offered the paint protection (Zurich Shield), Fabric/Vinyl/Leather Protection, and Rust protection for $799 and I took it anyway since I already got the $300 off, so it was essentially just $500 for that. Other dealers were pricing the same package for $1200.

I cant wait to drive it! I can either pick it up on Monday (drive 60 miles/1 hour) and drive it home or they will deliver it to my address at no cost. But they'll be driving the car instead of hauling it on top of a delivery truck or something.

Edit:

Also, the WRB color looks sooo sexy in person! Definitely much better than the GSB.

Rust Protection I would have skipped (as well as the interior protection, they're just gonna spray a can of 3M protection on everything, you could've done it yourself easily), but hey you got a good deal and you got your car, so congrats!

Enjoy!

How much does the 3M paint protection cost? They haven't done work on the car yet until Monday. So I can still change it if I want to.

$10 for a 10 ounce can of 3M Scotchguard. Figure another $10 for a can of Leather protectant. $10 for a can of Vinyl protectant.

As for Rust Proofing - it isn't really needed on a modern car, and many people would argue that it's actually counterproductive to have all that gunk sprayed everywhere. I'm not sure about the Zurich paint protectant but something like Wolfgang Deep Gloss sealant costs about $40 for a bottle - lasts 6 months, I figure that's probably comparable.

By the way - you can usually find a local detailer to do everything that the dealer is doing (except for rust proofing) for under $200. If you want to go all out, you can add on a full body Opti-Coat (basically a permanent paint guard that makes your car wax-free for years). Figure another $200 for that. They'll do a far better job than what your dealer will do, and it'll last a lot longer.

You can use 3M scotchguard as paint protection layer?

This thing?

If you dont mind linking the product, it would be very helpful. I could save myself $800 XD

No man, Scotchguard is for the interior. I mentioned Wolfgang Deep Gloss sealant for your paint.

That is what's called the "Upsell after a Discount". You're basically giving the dealer pure profit. You should tell them you don't want it after all.

I was given the sales pitch on something similar on my current car - extended warranty because 'the turbo is going to go in 3 years, along with your HID headlights'.

First, you tell me that the car is reliable, and now you tell me the turbo is going to go? And my headlights are going to bust? I think I must have let some of my true feelings show on my face when I refused the extended warranty, because the sales guy looked pissed. I felt even better about my decision after I learned how much of that extended warranty was going into that guy's wallet.

Yea I passed on the interior and exterior protectant as well. Dealer offered it to me for $599. Only plus is that it included insurance/ repair of the interior if it ripped or if a stain was unremovable.

Went with full exterior opticoat which cost me $300 (with a full detail included)

But anywho congrats on the car!!! It's a blast to cruise around in

Where do you guys get your cars opticoated? Not sure where's a reputable place in Minneapolis, MN area.

I would also like to have the windows tinted as well, so it would be nice to have that done at the same place if possible XD.

So... I just called my salesman's personal phone, cancelled the paint protection stuff. After looking online, I think I'll do the opticoat 2.0 application myself. I hope its easier than it looks XD. Probably wont be able to get that started until next weekend.

Save me $700 and spend it on window tinting. I'll look around town, I think theres a few places in Minneapolis that does paint protection at a low price.

Edit:

Looks like https://skipchips.com/paint_protection_film does 3M Paint Protection. I've heard a lot of people doing 3M on their BRZ.
