I dont even remember the quantity of alcohol we had. Open bars everywhere, it was nuts.
In fact, I dont remember much past about 7-8pm on any given day during that trip. XD

Happy Anniversary 1st86ers!

I received my email notification that I had been moved from the waiting list to the First 86 list exactly one year ago today. (1/26/2012 at 6:36PM according to the Sent time on the email)

I'm assuming everyone else received theirs around the same time, give or take a day so Happy Anniversary everyone!

My wait list email came January 13th, and my Wait list promotion came on the 20th. I should've saved that voicemail. I still have the note on my whiteboard at work.

The estimate they gave us at the time was $800. @russv posted that here and I had a similar conversation with them as I was trying to decide if I wanted to go or not based on the tax cost.

Not a 1st86 but I am tempted to save various things from my car if/when I mod it and have a custom box designed and built so I can hang a tribute to her on the wall. >_>

Iv called Scion and have confirmed it has nothing to do with the VIN of the car.

the first 86 program was given by name. You can buy all the stuff the first 86 ppl got and say yours is a first 86 and no one can prove you wrong.

I've done that with the few parts I've changed out. They are all in a box so if I ever sell it I can say "Here if you want to return it to OEM".

It was the First 86 deliveries, not the First 86 VINs. In fact, the car was for sale in Japan for months before we took delivery here so who knows how deep down they really are. Basically, we have early VINs but because of color-codes, transmissions, etc there is no special order to them. We were actually able to change our choices after the first cars were already built (by the time we went to Long Beach many of the lower ones already were through the assembly line).

Well, if someone wants to, they probably could. Scion knows which VINs were delivered to the First 86, and a diligent owner could produce enough paperwork to prove they were one of the First 86 (although there really aren't 86 since some didn't take delivery), but in the end it really doesn't add any value to the car, and is probably not worth the effort.

It might make a difference in 30 years, but probably not in the near future.
