My 10 series not affected by recall?

Went into my local dealership today and asked about the recall. Apparently my car, which was built in May of 2013, is not part of the recall. Has anyone else had this experience? I thought it was all cars built until July 2013?

If anyone could shed some light on this or point me in a direction to confirm if my car is not affected by the recall, I would greatly appreciate it.

There are a few scattered among them that do not seem to be affected. Probably a different lot number of springs was used for some reason. Go to the NHTSA site and punch your VIN into the recall search. If it comes up clean then the dealer was correct. They probably are correct but worth the second verification.

Cool, thank you. I will check the NHTSA site. I guess our special edition got spared the recall.

Sadly, just because our 10-series haven't been part of this recall, it doesn't mean our valve springs are any better or worse than the affected ones. Just like the Takata airbags: car companies will only issue recalls on part numbers directly related to known issues. Time will tell...
