has to be more to the story than that. Maybe if the guy didn't hog the left lane he would have seen the idiot driving behind him.

Oh no doubt it was a dumb move. I am just saying that the charger had some defensive options that were missed and it appears as if he actually accelerated into danger. Old motorcycle rule - never accelerate into danger.

He was actively passing cars when this happened. He should have been in the left lane. The moron in the FR-S simply should have stayed behind him another 10 seconds and then could have passed without an issue.

The most fault we can put on the charger driver is that it appears that he sped up, although the engine noise might be from the BRZ so it's hard to say how much if any he really sped up. I think he did a little, but not enough to make a difference. I certainly wouldn't think the moron would have made that move so I wouldn't have slammed on my brakes if I were that charger driver.

Not that I'd ever be a charger driver, but still.

Watching the video again and covering most of the screen except for the dashed centerline.. I actually don't think the charger sped up at all now.

Music? I thought the guy had bad gas.

The guy claims in the YouTube comments that he had the cruise control set, but to me it looked like he was speeding up between cars and slowing down when he came alongside other cars in the right lane. I'm not convinced the Charger driver wasn't being a tool.

The FRS driver must be drunk, probably why he fled. He had terrible judgment and no coordination.

Try covering everything on your monitor except where the white lines meet the hood. Minus a couple of sections where the broken line changes, it really looks like he had CC on. Turn off the volume as well to avoid the FR-S engine note increase.

Dude, even if he did speed up... The proper response is to ram them????

If you change lanes and there is an incident, you are always the one at fault. Period.

Then a hit and run????!!!?? That's completely reprehensible. Also an automatic misdemeanor. I hope he got a shot of the license plate and they charge that punk.

What's with all the people defending the fr-s? Just because someone owns the same car with you they are now saints and every one else is a douche? Give me a break. If it was the other way around no one would be defending anything.

This is as good a place as any to bring up passing lane habits in the US - we suck at it. Especially when compared to Germany, Switzerland, GB. I have driven in all of these countries and I can report back - we really suck at utilizing the passing lane correctly.

Here is the proper use.

1) Don't stay in it.
2) Get out of it as soon as possible
3) If you see someone coming up fast behind you - speed up or slow down but get out of the way. Don't start a passing move if someone is going to be on your ass. - Basically - help a bro out and don't make them brake.
4) Flashing your brights is not rude although in the states I use my left turn indicator. It's a way of saying please move over.

Many US drivers would be pulled over and given tickets for their driving habits in other countries.

I am really looking forward to many US drivers embracing autonomous cars in the hope that it will pull them all over to the right.

Incredibly stupid move by the FR-S driver.

The guy in the Charger is obviously a left lane camper. He had plenty of room to move to the right lane in between cars but then that would have required him to check his mirrors and actually use his turn signal.

Who knows how long that FR-S was behind him in the left lane wanting around before he decided to make that ill advised move? Honestly, I kind of hope that they do not track down the Scion owner and the guy that posted the video has to pay for the damage himself. IMO they were both in the wrong. Most states in the US do have laws that say you must move to the right when possible and allow faster traffic to pass on the left no matter how fast you are going.

What about the left lane HOV lane during non HOV hours. If someone speeds up to you in the HOV lane ... Are you supposed to move to the right? I'm talking about the crazy state of Arizona where people move in and out of the HOV constantly.

Very true - someone should tell the FR-S driver that!

It's never worth risking a crash to pass another car on the highway. I've even seen idiots drive on shoulders to make passes - stupid life decisions. But I've also seen slow drivers camp in the left lane and create miles of traffic behind them. Both sides need to try harder to be less asshole-ish, and work with other drivers on the road, not try to thwart them.

Some people don't seem to get that we live in a society. I've seen some of the most anti-social behavior by people on the highway.
