With the spring, it's brieflyfirm-soft-soft-soft with no feel as to where the bite point is. Without the spring, it's soft-firmer-firm-soft as you pass the bite point. I went from jerkily shifting and almost stalling at lights (which was embarrassing for me because I've been daily driving standard shift for 6 years) to suddenly being able to make glass smooth shifts and starts with quick, painless heel-toe downshifts without having to put any thought into it. Coming from the grapefruit launcher (you couldn't hold it down in traffic, your leg would go numb) of a clutch in my '94 4.0 Ranger to the almost delicate (by comparison) but very communicative clutch in my '00 Civic DX, the sensation-less clutch in my FR-S was difficult to get a handle on. It was also really at odds with the rest of the car. So I drive maybe two and a half hours with the spring in and couldn't take it. Removing the spring isn't something that's really reversible, but unless you've never driven stick before this car, you won't want to. |

I must be weird! I really like the feel of the clutch. I've been driving manuals for 35 years and though this one is really soft I like it. I got used to it right away and though I can't really feel the bite point my leg learned where it is right away. My shifts feel a lot smoother than my last 2 cars, a tC and an S2000.
Maybe after driving big trucks and American Muscle for many years this soft easy clutch is a relief for an old man! But then again I am still babying it in the break-in period so when that's over it all could change!

Monogram Series FR-S Orders
In my opinion the clutch point is a little high. I've had a 5spd 07 tC, 6 speed, 04 g35, and a 12' genesis 6spd so far out of all of them I prefer the g35 clutch. But of course that's my preference

I'm still getting used to my clutch, mostly when it comes to taking off. I've only had manual cars in the past, and this clutch point seems pretty high to me. I've actually grown to like how soft it is though, I think it's nice when you're really driving the car hard.

Just got it Tuesday. I took some photos of it yesterday. |

She was coming from a Mini Cooper S and was used to the push button start, auto climate control, all that jazz, and really liked Hot Lava. As luck would have it, the dealer nearby had a 6AT hot Lava Monogram on their lot, so she bought it. It helps that I've been fawning over this car for years, so she's gotten into it too. I'm just as in love with the color, and wanted the headlights (the other features are just bonus). They had to talk another dealer out of mine, but they got it straight from port after we waited for the spoiler. |

There was a couple who bought his-and-hers 10 Series too. But curious, why not choose a different color to switch it up in the driveway.
