What doesn't have side air bags nowadays?

But from the BRZ press release, it also has the Subaru Ring Shaped Reinforcement Frame body. So safety should be pretty good?

it has side airbags and i don't think they're on the seat which makes changing to buckets much easier.

Are side curtains required now? IIRC the NHTSA requires all new cars to have side airbags; not sure about curtains. What's the significance of curtains to you? Either way you'll be safe.

Subaru Impreza and Toyota Camry have side curtain, I think it's safe to say this probably will have them.

The way curtains deploy, they cover the window, in case it shatters, it protects occupants from flying glass.

If they don't have side curtains the IIHS will tear them apart in the safety rating and your insurance rate will be nuts.

I'm sure they will have them

This is a lighter car. Do your best not to get hit by a 5000 lb suv. My Miata is only 2300lb. *scared*

It's not much different if it gets hit by a 5000lb Bently.

Imprezas have been pretty good about not letting the passenger compartment collapse. That said, any collision with any high-riding SUV/truck/CUV will be disastrous for this car.
