If the average person doesn't want the current car, I don't know why they would want the refreshed one. It's not like the current car is a stripped track-day special and it's not like the refresh will ride like a Lexus.

Beating it with an ugly stick certainly won't help either.

You get buyers by offering more car per dollar so either price it competitively or stuff in more performance/equipment. This refresh seems to be doing neither.

What you consider "more car" and what I consider "more car" is going to be different. To some the simple addition of the volume controls on the steering wheel makes it "more car". Many of what we consider small changes may just be enough to push somebody over the edge into buying it. "Why does the base Corolla have buttons (no idea what they do) on the steering wheel but this doesn't? Oh it does have buttons? I will take it". We car guys tend to forget that most people look at a few basics and decide and don't research and make informed decisions. They have no idea if it rides like a Lexus or a hay wagon and don't care as long as it is a pretty colour and has buttons.

I don't think it's taking anything away from what the car either.

The average buyers who would've bought it are still going to buy it.

They are. Theres an entire episode on Jay Leno's garage.

I love the new fender garnish. I think the new facia looks better than the FRS, but no FRS owner is going to admit that. It looks like a cross between the frs & brz.

You people have to realize there is very little manufacturers can change in the front, due to pedrstrian safety laws, without creating an entirely new car.

Nope... I don't even have an FR-S and I'm still 100% for the 1st gen fascia over this horrendous monstrosity...

Like most have mentioned, it looks as if they've tried wayyyy too hard in "re-designing" it...
Should have just left it the way it was or just extend the "mouth" a little wider instead of recreating a new mouth. Just looks like a lazy blob of lard now.

But then again, at the end of the day... Our tastes buds are different... What I like, you may not like and vice versa. But I am sensing the majority here would not trade up their old FR-S for this "new" 86. (Or not worth it, anyways)
