Aren't both the LFA and ISF trannys Sequential Single-Clutch Boxes with the TC Lock? So couldn't they say it was derived from either (more so towards the LFA because both are 6-Speeds)?

Or am I missing something?

ISF = TCL auto

LFA = automated sequential manual

If the tranny is based on the one in IS-F, it will be the same one in GS. Mass production = cheaper.

He said "based on" the LFA trans, a very broad and vague statement. That's also assuming the translator has a solid grasp on engineering language in both Japanese and English.

I have to agree with you guys on the 1000 units per year being a translation error. The translator might have heard 1 million in Japanese and translated it as 1 thousand in English. This isn't weird at all, since 1 million in Japanese is actually 10,000 in numeric form so he might have got confused when converting it into English.

That being said, it is true that many of the natural disaster that have been happening in Asia might have an impact on production but Toyota city located south of the main island Honshu, while the actual epicentre of the earthquake is on the north end of the island. So the actual production plants would be affected minimally.
