Im literally 50/50 keeping it or getting a 17. the 13 is rough enough that i don't have to baby it. A 17 i would cry over every paint chip. i can pay off the 13 in about a year. 17 is almost triple the price. also i secretly love the 13s minimalism. mine is the base so theres nothing except driving. nothing on the steering wheel and no screen. loooove that. One thing tho. Im kinda of scared of it at the moment because i have nooooo idea where the limit is. it just sticks. i live in the blue ridge on top of a mountain and its the perfect car, like a roller coaster. but I'm scared it will just bite me. what are the general limits of the car? the only other rwd vehicle is my old 2wd tacoma but i drive that differently. are there any general dos and donts for the fr-s? would a brz or a an 86 be different? |

For parts keep an eye here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43723 and here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=63 (might have to pay for shipping but it will likely still be dirt cheap compared to a new set of springs+dampers) Dealership prices for new springs/dampers would totally not be worth it (there was a thread about that a few months ago), on par with, or more than an aftermarket setup like this: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120639 And I'll mention it again, a set of Bilsteins or Konis might be worth it as well. Hit up an autocross to find the limits of the car in a safe environment, spin it around, go too deep into a corner, miss an apex or clip it too tight, who cares it's just a scuff mark that'll buff out or a dinged up bumper. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=119401 http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116283 Enjoy your car! |

Thanks for all the info! Those Showas are very intriguing actually. Ill look into them. And yeah I like how its not perfect. I can drive hard and not care. I think ill just keep it. Previous owner(s) did some mods i like. Has exhaust and Toyota emblems instead of scion ones. |

I bought a new first production 2013 BRZ Limited back in Nov 2012. Drove it stock-ish until 60,000 before I installed a Jackson Racking supercharger and matching track oil cooler.
Engine had a rod knock at 70,500 miles. I've always changed my oil and filled it to spec. Not sure why the engine would develop this issue. I decided not to fix it or have the engine torn down for $1875 to find the root cause. Instead I traded it in for a 2017 BRZ Limited. I'm missing the power from the supercharger, but at least the 2017 has the shorter gearing and tweaked suspension. It feels like it drives better than the 2013. If this engine doesn't take me to 150,000 miles, I'm done with Subaru. I've never had issues like this with my Honda/Acura. |

I'm almost there. 2017 with 23K in 1 year. That's like 4 years to go.
That actually doesn't sound that bad...

Silly things like leaky timing cover and other small stuff. For the most part the car has been really reliable and I drive it hard in every conceivable condition.
