If you guys want to see a rear turbo FRS go to Roadstercycle on the forum. I designed built the first one with a Comp-oil less turbo in September 2012. There's pics there. STS wanted pictures and tune info back then, I can't believe it took them so long.

You had a setup like this. Can you give us your feedback and thoughts?

I still have it on the car and still love it. I just ordered the Openflash tablet to get back into it deeper and raise the boost without having to deal with the EcuTek tuning. It runs great and I'm happy. Please don't start asking how much HP gain, fuel economy, I don't have dyno info I just have a car that I love to drive now. It was a dog when I bought it. I only run 5 psi right now but I'll be boosting it up now. Only 91 octane here so it will be touch and go. Maybe dynos later.

I'm not too concerned about total output as long as the kit can do 300whp on pump. I'm not planning on upgrading my injectors, and I don't want to go with a puck clutch.

It's a slippery slope and I dont' want to go too far with mods on this car because I enjoy driving it every day without compromise. I've built several cars and before you know it, it's a race car that's less fun on the street.

My only concern was the throttle response.

I originally liked this idea but did more research into oiless turbos and they just don't seem up to snuff. I do see them fitting for drag car purposes. But anything else, grease packed chra's just won't cut it.

Kinda sucks that STS is the only company that holds rights to selling a rear mounted turbo. IMO that's patent trolling and uncompetetive, other companies should be able to sell their turbo kit mounted wherever they want.

actually there can be many reasons...

i mean really, when was the last time an oem put a turbo where the muffler goes? there's a reason.
One reason I can think of off the top of my head is CARB legal...

Anything you do post cats is legal even in Cali... no process of getting it accepted, although the changes to the ECU would still have to be approved, but that's on the end user for a tuner kit..

On another note, while not for me. Some people would be quite surprised with the actual lag in a similar system.
People have been doing rear mount turbos on f bodies for decades...

More info and dyno results on 10psi I believe. This is PSIG btw. We're at 4500ft in Utah, so about 2 psia less than sea level. Not too bad of results. I'm still pretty interested in this kit. I really like everything here, and it looks well-built. Would love to drive it to see how I like it.

5000rpm is about where the fun happens, and they say the kit comes with a 500hp capable turbo. I did do some measurements a while back on the volume of the charge piping and though it's long it doesn't seem to be an issue with lag. I would like to test that as well, as I've driven many cars with 500hp turbos and would like to compare the spool characteristics.
