I think the original system bypassed the dash midrange and just used the door speaker and tweeter. (2-way)

The current setup uses the door speaker, dash midrange, and the tweeter. (3-way)

Of course. I should have known that.

I haven't seen what has happened to getting the bass set to robust or full at the factory. Is that now set by the user?

They still have to do it. I recommend robust because of the media player's crappy center frequency for bass adjustment. My wife's 2015 head unit controls low-ish bass but my media player bass adjustment is more like a mid-bass adjustment.

I have robust, and the bass is strong without being overbearing. Also, if you ever want to go full-adolescent with some bass tracks, just change the vehicle to tC and set SSP to powerful.

The imaging takes a small hit, but the bass-adjustment's center frequency is lower and the boom can be adjusted to overbearing levels.

I just talked to them on the phone before I ordered, or you could send them an email. They are very responsive.

And how would I know to do that before I ordered if I hadn't looked into this before??? There is zero mention on their website about the different subwoofer settings.

I'm beginning to remember why I didn't order this in the first place for my original FR-S.

You could also put it in the "how did you hear of O+?" box at checkout.

The may just contact every person that orders now. I called them in my case though.

Sorry for the confusion and any inconvenience @Racer-X

With the introduction of our New Quad-Coil Subwoofer System (Spring 2016) and the popularity of our FULL low frequency profile we now accommodate the requests for the BALANCED and ROBUST on a special request basis. However you present a valid point and we're more than willing to make your experience (and ALL our Listeners) as tailored as possible. Our FR-S/BRZ Product Showcases has been updated with this option:

@Twinz thanks for sharing your feedback and providing helpful support!! Truly appreciated.

So not to go off topic, but I am curious, does OEM+ recommend back seat up or down for the best experience? Are there options for buyers regarding if they typically have their rear seat up or down? Other folks with rear corner mounted subs, OEM+ or not, do you find you get the best with the seat up or down?

Great question @Chimera! We tune our 86 / FR-S / BRZ sound solutions with the rear seat up. However due to the nature of our in-vehicle acoustic measurements and calibration it makes little noticeable difference in terms of output with the rear seat back up or down. So decide on the position that best accommodates your preference.

@oemaudioplus I bought an FR-S last summer and am planning on asking Santa for an OEM Audio Reference system for Christmas. I was curious if you have any holiday specials coming up and when would be a good time to pull the trigger on the purchase?
