Please indicate the rotary hate that occurred prior to your post? I fail to see any.

I refuse to give them the click to read the article but a quick search for any statement from Mazda shows nothing. The sad part is now the other clickbaits are going to run with this and there will be all sorts of "official" statements and details for people to fight over.

Like others said the drawing sure are purdy though.

70k for a 1.6L mazda? Lmao I'm fine.

Not that it matters, since it's just another click bait article.

Bet most of us here would rather have the new Supra for 70k. Still
I'm happy they are thinking about making another RX!

Seeing all three 7 gen's noses lined up makes ya appreciate how nice the FB is.

But this is an RX-9 we're potentially talking about, so we need to get the other family members to chime in, too.

And of course, the Vision concept

I think it'll be exciting if Mazda pushes a sporty PHEV using a small turbocharged rotary (240 hp) running at a constant state to power a large battery pack (210 hp) and drive the front wheels under sport mode. It'll fit in with the NSX and i8 and Supra mentality. Keep the exotic materials down, use that zoom-zoom voodoo to make it a comfortable GT that can keep up with an M4 around some corners, price it at $70k to undercut any other sport hybrid and give the millennial and gen x'ers something to consider when shopping for their $65k+ M4, C63, Boxster, F-Type and Corvettes.

Found another picture that I believe is as accurate and real as the one in Motoring!

The source for this is dubious at best, and the rendering photo is nothing more than a guess.

Still, when/if the RX7 returns it would be a huge mistake for Mazda to price it in the $70k range. Too much competition there. Mazda would be much smarter to design and market an RX7 as a BRZ on steroids type of vehicle, or poor man's Evora/Cayman. Something around 3,000 lb with a power to weight ratio between 8-10 lb/hp with a price starting in the high 30s, maybe $40k. In that part of the market their only real sports car competition is the overweight and outdated Nissan 370Z.

A. Clickbait. MotorTrend is citing Motoring, and Autoblog and Business insider is citing some Japanese blog, hooray.

B. I'd take sloppy seconds on one.

Like so many things it is not as simple as saying the car will sell for X number of Yen in Japan and then just slap the exchange rate on that number and say it will be Y number of dollars here. Sure if you are buying something from Japan and paying in US$ that works but comparing domestic prices and using the exchange to determine value just does not work. Get it all the time with the Canadian prices and people say "oh so it actually cost you X" No, it cost me Y. Yes it would cost somebody using US$s X but not me. The actual US price (if even brought over at all) could be well above or below $70K. I would guess they would sell it here for something around $50K.
