Pete's Perrin Vortech build thread
I have just received my first box from Perrin so I figured I would start this thread. I have had my car for 5 months and I just crossed the 10,000 mile mark today (1/17/13) on my way home from work. In the next few weeks (when all of the items finally arrive) I will be having the guys over at Phastek in Houston install a full Perrin header back and Vortech supercharger kit, with polyurethane engine mounts & rear shifter bushing.
As parts come in I'll add pics until install day. After that I'll keep up with the other cosmetic changes I have planned for the future like getting a full Katskin leather set installed, replacing & adding to the interior lighting, and getting a new head unit/speakers. Chris@phastek is going to be taking plenty of better quality photos with a real camera during the install, I will have them up then but you will have to deal with iPhone pics until then. The first thing I got for my car was new tires, a set of Michelin PSS at 215 on the stock wheels. That was an amazing change, I did not know that the tires could make such an impact. If you are new to modding cars like me (I figure a lot of guys are modding the FR-S for their first time, it was made for it!) then I highly recommend picking up a set of high performance tires, you will be amazed at the difference! You can still easily feel where the limits of grip are but they are much higher so your tires don't squeal every time you take a right turn at a stop sign. Here is my car bone stock: That's the "before" photo. I got the first box from UPS today, it looked nice and clean. Inside was my new overpipe and Ecutek box. I got the rest of my exhaust today (1/21/13): All of the steel looks flawless, I'm keeping it in the packaging until install day. And here is a pile of car parts that will sit in my living room for a few weeks while I wait on the Vortech kit to arrive: Last edited by Pete; 01-21-2013 at 06:12 PM. |

This is pretty much the route I am thinking of going. I am curious to see the final outcome after the blower is installed. Subscribed

I have not seen a kit yet that I would put on my car. I am not ruling it out though, if somebody makes a nice tasteful kit I could see getting one. The problem is that effective aero rarely looks good on the street.
I just paid an arm and a leg for an arm rest on ebay: And I got a plaque for my center console as well, from a member here named @doggy, it looks nice. He has a light up one as well. I'll photo them when they are installed. Last edited by Pete; 01-19-2013 at 01:43 PM. |
