Drool... You're making me hungry, even though I'm full lol

Good info! Thanks

Burger Bach is worth the trip regardless of where you go, but while Richmond is pretty there's really not much there. The Twin scene is MUCH bigger in NOVA/DC than Hampton Roads (Va Beach, Norfolk, etc) BUT the Outer Banks are closer, the Great Dismal Swamp (terrible name right?) and Pungo are both most excellent scenic twisties and not too far out of the way. Richmond is about an hour away from HR, DC is about 3. OBX is 2ish. If there's a Mrs. Ichi, there's about a dozen vineyards within a 2 hour drive of Norfolk. ORF is a fairly large airport so getting in and out shouldn't be a problem. Yorktown (another Norfolk outlier) has some really cool history, revolutionary and civil war battles if you're into that. Norfolk has some pretty gnarly traffic thanks to the bridge-tunnels (the only way to cross the Chesapeake and Elizabeth Rivers) but nothing compared to DC. DC has a lot of cool museums and restaurants though... Plusses and minuses. Hope to see you out here sometime soon!

If you like the outdoors (camping, hiking, etc.) try Mountain Lake or Jefferson National Forest, added bonus - plenty of twisty roads that aren't patrolled like the Blue Ridge Parkway.

If you are into the beach, go to Croatan or North End of Virginia Beach. Stay away from the strip. If you like a more family beach environment, Sandbridge in Virginia Beach or OBX area (Duck, Nags Head) of North Carolina. If you are into surfing, Hatteras Island in North Carolina is ideal.

If you are into the nightlife, DC like others have suggested.

There are several wineries near Charlottesville, as well as craft breweries.

Concerning best time to visit - avoid mid July through August - hot and humid.

Best of luck on your trip.

I'm born & raised in Japan (half of my life), so I love humid! ...but how humid can VA get? Kinda like Hawaii? If it's Hawaii lvl or less, I can handle without issue

I agree OBX is where to go if your interested in beaches. VA Beach isnt horrible for night life or food tho (www.watermans.com/, www.onefish-twofish.com/). I prefer granby street myself for night life (www.jewishmother.com/ or http://www.granbytheater.com/ ). If your looking for mountains blue ridge all the way. And if your out that way, id hit up the tail of the dragon in TN/NC as well. its worth the trip. Williamsburg is a good place to go as well. Lots of neat things around there and good food. My in laws love Captain George's (www.captaingeorges.com/). They "force" me and my wife to go whenever they visit lol. I would say the perfect time to come would be mid to late June or early July.
