Thanks FRSFirestorm, it would help if I just looked harder...

***Just ditched my DRL's using the Napa relay. Easy and even easier to undo. Thanks to whom ever figured that out.***

Highbeam\DRL Fix: Rplacing the ECU for Early Production Vehicles (SB0009-12)

Thanks for the very useful lead. I went to the Dealer today, when I said "ECU replacement" they all gave me this look - you know what I mean!

Sure enough, they had a print-out of Service Bulletin # SB-0009-12 in hand and ordered the new ECU within 10 minutes from my great revelation.

I felt vindicated as I was really paranoid after breaking the news that I obtained from the Forum. You guys rock - really.

So let's turn them off.

It's very simple to do, Just remove the DRL Resistor. Makes the car just that much lighter as well! lol

1. So, access the Front Right Lower panel.

2. Undo the clips and bolt pictured.
(Peel back)

3. Locate DRL Resistor connector
Unplugg and tape up.

4. Remove DRL Resistor

5. Put back together.

Simple.

Ishii

No it will not disable the high beam. Everything will be 100% normal except you won't have DRLs.

Did this a few weeks ago:
High beams still work.
DRLs disabled.
No issues whatsoever.

I rolled my car up on to a few 2x4s to get a decent amount of room to work underneath. Took all of 5 minutes to do it. Super easy. Thanks for the writeup!

Just throwing this out there, but what I want to do is get the DRLs to turn on the low beams. Is this even possible? I haven't really looked into it, was thinking maybe someone here has.

Your tip worked perfectly...opened the panel, unplugged the cable, taped it up and put the panel back. High beams still work as expected but no DRLs and only a few minutes to do it, no tools required!

Thanks!!!

I used this method today and it worked great. Pop off the little panel, unplug the cable, tape up loose end and zip tied it to frame, put panel back on.

Easy as pie!

i swapped out my turn signals amber bulbs for flash back led. I also installed HID and fog lights, but when flashback led and fogs are on at the same time, they look stupid. im going to try and find a way to spice and wire my DRL to my turn signals. ill keep an update.

Lol that's my car. Going to put my relay back in because I disabled DRL today with Techstream on my netbook.
