I agree. I don't get too many waves from fellow 86 owners. I get them more from the WRX and s2000 crowd. Go figure.

I don't wave or expect to be waved to I suppose. When growing up in a small town sure that was normal. Now days... Not so much and doesn't bother me and honestly shouldn't anyone here...

Fellow VW owner here as well.

The Volkswagen community is very different than most. Most people buy into that when they own a VW. I don't think owners of other makes particularly care.

If some random guy was waving at me I'd have the same reaction.

I'm an R32 owner and even in the R32 I don't wave at all VW dealer. R32's om the road is another story. If you have to wave try waving at those that have the same car maybe?

I refuse to flash lights now because I got ticketed for "improper use of high beams." That was a $200 dollar mistake I will never repeat... I was actually doing it to warning people about deer on the road (it was a 40mph road with bends).

Apparently it's more responsible to let people enter dangerous situations than to prevent it.

I've been ignored and accidentally ignored other's. I've gotten looks from STI's but never an acknowledgement. Started giving the peace sign because I felt weird waving and not getting a response haha. I can never tell if someone's honking at me or where it comes from

I usually have about 2/3rds of 86 owners wave or flash back. Other Scions more of a nod, I don't even bother with other Subies or Porsches.

comming from the Subaru background, i still wave at STi's and WRX's, out of habit. I dont care for scion TC's just because i never liked that car.

I got a lot more acknowledgements when the car was newer and rarer, like late 2012. I still get a lot of looks from other ft86 drivers.

As for Toyota, is there a Toyota enthusiast culture? I've never really seen one.

Just compare Toyota fest vs. Subie fest. 2000gt, AE86, Supra, Celica Alltrac, etc.. More pedigree, but also more variation. They're not coined on AWD Turbo.

Same here. I love Austin and the people here but Frs/Brz owners never wave back. I always get thumbs up from Tcs and other subies. We should start an Austin 86 Club.
