Who's running what head unit and stereo system?

I just bought mine a few days ago, and I think I'm going with the Pioneer AVH-4200EX head unit to take advantage of Android... Uh, Android Drive I think?

Unfortunately that leaves me very little money for a while to do much else.

What have you guys got? Let me live vicariously through you!

That's what I'm getting. How hard was it to remove your old one?

1. You just responded to your own post. No one else has responded.

2. Read the stickies in the sub forums before you start a thread. Most of your questions will be answered before you ever ask them.

3. If the stickies don't work, use the search feature. This car has been out since 2013; chances are it's been discussed before.

4. If that doesn't work either, THEN start a thread.

You are absolutely right. I had no idea I did that. I apologize.

Have the Pioneer avh-p3400bh in mine. Simple install if you've done a head unit before.

Went with Kenwood Excelon KDC-X599 due to price, etc. I'll be doing a similar setup to some other autocrossers and using the freed up space to mount my lap timer/phone/etc.

Sony XSPN1BT, bluetooth head unit with phone mount. $150, using a Nexus 5x with it.

It sounds pretty good bluetooth wise, nice and clear. Though heavy amounts of bass don't come across the stock speaker system well, but I haven't messed with the EQ. Features are decent, USB port 1.5Ah charging, Voice button works great for Google Now voice commands. Allows for color customization on the buttons (blue or amber LEDs.) Has a wired microphone.

There are a few gripes, the lever holding the phone in place is flimsy and my phone was flying out, but I modified it with a piece of sugru plastic molding to hold it in place and I'm happy with how it works now. The unit also came in running the demo mode and also had an annoying button beep but fortunately I was able to turn them off. Also the only way to use the menu functions is to use the included remote control.

Also my phone was actually pretty incompatible with it, but I fixed with with an easy hack as well. My Nexus 5x has its power button on the side, so I couldn't turn the screen on with it in the cradle. But I found that I could use an app called Wakeup Touch Nexus which uses the photosensor to detect my hand waving to turn it on. Works great. So be aware that in order to use this kind of head unit that you'd need a front-facing power button, a tap to wake function, or the app I mentioned.

I'd never seen that. Looks pretty cool! I control all my music with my phone anyway

@FNCrazy I like it because its minimal, it looks plain when you don't have a phone mounted in it. Less chance of someone wanting to break in to steal an expensive HU I say.

I have the Ca-Fi Dashlinq4. I live with it, but it's not excellent.. slow, sluggish, Pandora keeps crashing (after one of the Pandora updates..).
Google Maps too slow for some reason. Even though Waze uses Google Maps Api, it is much faster.. But still slower than my cell phone, so if I need to search for something quickly, I pull my phone up!
Sound quality is good though.

That Sony device is interesting and relatively cheap. nice find. I like the fact that it's mostly universal, haven't seen it up close, but from the picture, not in love with sticking a smaller screen and exposing rest of the unit...

Bought a top of the line Pioneer head unit (AVIC-F70DAB) that was the first to have Apple Carplay. Sadly the Carplay function broke after the iOS9 update so now my phone shows up as an iPod. Welcome to the joys of an early adopter.

I read up people having similar issues and the theory is that Pioneer did not play by Apple's rules in how it integrated its software / Firmware so lost compatability in a later update.

No biggie as the rest of that head unit is simply amazing. Truth be told I'd rarely of used the Carplay simply as you have to plug the phone in to use it and not sync over Bluetooth, which seems retarded.

I got a tiny 4 channel amp installed, had all the speakers torn out and replaced with JBL's. Rear ones went from the coke can 3" units to 5.25" ones in a custom bracket. Didn't / Don't feed the need for a sub.
