Fujitsubo Authorize R vs STi exhaust sound level
To those running a Fujitsubo authorize R with stock fp/headers, how does the sound level compare to a late gen (14-now) STi?
The reason i ask is that i finally found an exhaust thats all tame, mature sounding, and OEM quality based on reviews. But cant really find one in person to hear. However, i do really like the sound levels of a stock sti and was wondering if the authorize R achieves that? Or how does it sound relative to the stock sti? Does it have that mildly bass idle too? Or is it really only heard on throttle? |

I don't know how the Fujitsubo compares to the STI, but I just installed the Authorize R on my FRS and I really like it - it's not very loud on startup. It's almost OEM like volume wise during street driving, but sounds great once you step on the gas. Keep in mind I am running the A'pexi EL header/resonated/catted front pipe combo, which is also quiet. Both Setups are Japan street legal, as such the sound levels are very tame. I was running the Perrin 2.5" resonated catback before and I believe this is quieter.

Given your requirements, I would also recommend looking into the CSG Touring86 exhaust. I'm using it with stock front pipe, Gruppe-S UEL, and Gruppe-S overpipe. It is very mild compared to my previous catback and every other BRZ/FRS aftermarket exhaust I've heard. I have not heard an Authorize R in person, however.

I have this exhaust setup... and my girlfriend has a 2016 STi with a stock exhaust. Her exhaust is definitely rumblier at idle. Having said that, my car is definitely rumblier than stock now, but it's a very subtle rumble, which I like.
I'll also point out that I love this exhaust because it doesn't drone at ANY speed, and almost vanishes when you aren't accelerating or decelerating. It isn't a loud exhaust by any means, though, which I like. Just... the car doesn't sound like a Corolla anymore, lol. I can take a video comparing her idle and mine, but it will need to be after this weekend when I get it back together, lol.

It's pretty damn quiet at idle - almost stock. It's got a bit of a deeper tone but sound wise you may not notice it if you weren't trying to listen for it. The exhaust doesn't really open up until 3000RPM while driving.

The exhaust is mildly louder under acceleration but at idle it's practically the same as stock. It may get louder over time as the packing material is compressed by use. |

I ended up in this thread after doing a little searching. I'm curious if anybody knows how the Fujitsubo Authorize R compares to the JDM BRZ STi Sport muffler?

STi Sport muffler is axleback. STi will sound "quieter" because the factory midpipe is reused. Edited to reflect accuracy. Last edited by mav1178; 05-22-2019 at 08:19 PM. |

https://www.rallysportdirect.com/par...e-back-exhaust The S is an axleback. I've seen the S on some other sites for around $500. I imagine the sound level would be similar to the STI part. |

FYI - I ended up installing the OEM mid-pipe and Authorize S axleback. It is VERY quiet. Unfortunately, too quiet for my tastes. It is almost exactly the same volume as stock, just with a better tone. I had a noticeable decrease in top end HP as well as MPG. (I'm going to go back to a tune for a stock exhaust and see if that helps)
Although I'm a little disappointed, I really needed a quieter exhaust, so I guess I can't complain. |
