https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls If I have a VIN that shows up, I usually just call my favorite dealership and see if I can get in. I rarely wait for the "official letter".

I had just scheduled last night for a service for Friday as I have returned from another lengthy trip and closing in on 70k KM . While doing the online appointment, the option to get the recall done was offered. I will find out then if they actually have the part available at my local dealer. As chance has it, I had the recall notice in my mailbox this morning from Subaru Canada! It notes they are in the process of acquiring the remedy parts and a follow-up letter will be sent when they have stock… |

So I passed by the dealer for my service appointment this
morning and getting the Fuel pump recall done. The good news: They have the parts and time. There was a woman there that they had just completed her recall on her outback. The recall should take between 60 & 75minutes to complete. The bad news: I answered the wrong response when asked how much gas is in the tank! They want the vehicle with ¼ or less in the tank or they wont do it. There was a tech passing by getting his orders and confirmed on some vehicles they can do it even if above that limit but on the BRZ’s no way. So I will return in the next month to get it done before my BRZ does its hibernation for the winter. |

Wanted to get a few opinions on possibly just replacing the fuel pump myself with an aftermarket performance FP? Haven't dove too much into the topic but with plans on hitting road courses next year and possibly switching to E85 .. seems like something that I should upgrade while its out? Also might as well install a Verus Fuel Starvation Door as well correct? Thanks guys |

Be good for eventual re-sale if you have the fix documented and off the list at the dealer first.
Then you can do what you like with it. Another box to check off if someone does a VIN check later on.

Fuel pump recall
I got the notice in the mail this weekend with my VIN on the letter. I contacted my local dealership today...they booked me in for the replacement 2 weeks from now. They told me it would take them a little time to get the part in. Hopefully no hiccups...

Car went in for the fuel pump on Friday and I got it back on Saturday. Looks like everything went well, despite it taking a lot of time to do ( circa 3-4 hrs ). |

Got this done at the dealer today. Took about 6 hours total, but the service department was busy with other customers all day. Interior still smells like gas and it's looking like it needs to be aired out for awhile.

Found this write-up on fuel pumps that could affect pre-recall Subaru vehicles to 2013 ?
“Allege all Subaru vehicles built since 2013 contain defective low-pressure Denso fuel pumps.” https://www.torquenews.com/1084/suba...-customers-now Does not look to be a widespread issue if at all as the lawsuit does not seem to have a very large group and some never had any issues. About the actual recall work done on mine, car was returned as clean as I had left it with no complaints about the work performed. |

The Judge's statements tell you just how feeble the complaintents arguments are! Judge Rodriguez also dismissed a claim from one plaintiff because the plaintiff owns a Subaru vehicle that doesn't even contain a defective fuel pump. The court also rejected claims because the plaintiffs failed in their Warranty Act claims. One plaintiff had a fuel pump replaced for free under warranty Additionally, the judge says, "most plaintiffs experienced no symptoms of the defect in their vehicles and did not bring their cars to Subaru for the repair of any kind. No plaintiffs allege that they suffered a physical injury while driving their Subaru vehicles or rented a car at their own expense while having their vehicles repaired." This is no different than wanting to notify the NHTSA that there is a possibility of having silicone in the pickup so they should recall all the cars.

This is why manufacturers and dealerships question warranty work and then everybody whines because they do.
