I dunno, it doesn't feel all that slow to me. I took mine out to the winding country roads today and it accelerates well coming out of the exit of turns and onto the straights. The nimbleness of this car is incredible, though. I'm glad I made this my new car choice.

If you drive it around like a Turbo Subaru, it is absolutely sluggish. But if you drive to the engine's strengths and stay out of the Torque Valley, it's very punchy and responsive. It takes more engagement with the powertrain to get the most of it.

I don't think it's sluggish, I feel it has the perfect amount of power for what the car is meant to be.

I have a tc and its a five speed. At 60 MPH its spins at 2700 rpm I think its kind of high. But I guess normal for a sporty car but for the fuel savings a six speed trasmision would help I would thought ..
Anybody coming from a TC? To tell me how is the power compare I have test drive a FRS but it was a automatic and it was in autocross test drive could not really try it out Thanks |

I think my Golf TDi is pretty quick up to 60, and that is stated as 9.3s.
Had a Mazda 323GTR that did the sprint in 6 seconds, that was a ROCKET! |

I drove an automatic yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. Like everyone has suggested, I switched it over to manual shift plus I turned on sport mode and it was plenty powerful, though the power band was a bit strange to me. It has nice punch off the line which dies off quickly before starting to build again over about 5000, I think it's a nice balance that will be at home both with every day driving and track days or autocrossing. I'm interested to try the manual since I've heard that it's geared a bit more aggressively.
All in all, I certainly wouldn't call it sluggish, but I certainly wouldn't be too upset if a turbo kit were to turn up. |

Honestly, tuning out that torque dip and bolt-ons will be plenty for me. |

If Guff drives a 500hp Supra and doesn't think it feels sluggish, I guess it doesn't feel sluggish.
Before I had my S4, I daily drove my MK1 MR2. Last week I drove it for a couple of days; it has 165ish HP, 120ish lb/ft, weighs about 2250lbs and has a 5spd manual. The lack of torque is definitely noticeable compared to the supercharged V6 in the Audi, but it doesn't feel slow, especially when VVT engages at about 5500rpm (vTak, y0!) It has almost an identical power-to-weight ratio to the BRZ, so I expect similar feel. I don't even think about adding more horsepower until I get dusted by a V6 Camry driven by a grandma. Then I want more power...

Nice. Did you sell the V6 Spyder or do you have them both right now?
On topic: The car is not slow nor sluggish. It is actually fairly quick but you have to take it above 4.5K rpm. I recently went for a ride with a salesman who did not seem to mind abusing the rev limiter as he showed the car off to me. With two of us in the car and both of us weighing approximately 200lbs I was fairly impressed with the car's pull in the upper RPMs. No it does not have the grunt of my previous Mustang GT or my 350Z but then they do not have the nimbleness that it does. I liked it alot. Those of you that are breaking the car in right and not exceeding the 4K redline have yet to experience what the motor can do.The car definitely gets up to speed quick enough to get you some tickets if you are not careful. Avoid drag races and you should be a very happy owner. Definitely do not load the car up with fat friends and then go out looking for a drag race to show off your new car. You may never live it down.
