Speaking of work, the only thing keeping me from seeking new opportunities at this point is the thousands of dollars skipping out on this one would cost me. I'd lose the unvested portion of my retirement and have to pay back the signing bonus.

Woohoo, job interview lined up for this Friday. Was starting to lose hope since it’d been over a month without hearing from them.

The very good news is that it’s down to one other candidate and myself. Just gotta knock the interview out of the park!

And it was a nice ego boost to hear the guy say “you have a very impressive resume, looks like you’ve been doing this for a while”

OK, so how many more years till you are vested?

No clue with the current employer. I'm still "internal" to the original company, but they basically sold off a bunch of employees so I'm a contractor now. My bigger retirement account (the old one) vests at the end of this month. The new one was only created in February.

Well, little chance you'll get a job by the end of the month even if you start now, or if you did you could set your last day to after that date.

As far as the new job, it would seem odd it would have a different vestment date.

Yeah, my bigger concern is the signing bonus. It was a fair amount and I'm not allowed to leave for 12 months (next February, basically) or I have to pay it back. I would assume that the new 401k vests on a different day because I do work for a different company now, just still a contractor for my old employer.
